Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Alton B. Meyer, a Vietnam veter-
an, tells of his experiences as a prisoner of war to a crowd gath-
ered at the Exploring History Lunch Lecture held in the College
Station Conference Center on Wednesday. In 1967, Meyer's
F105F jet was hit by enemy fire. He was captured after eject-
ing from the aircraft, he said. He spent most of his captivity in
the prisoner of war camp commonly known as the Hanoi Hilton.
He was released in 1973. Meyer, who was awarded more than
a dozen service medals, graduated from Texas A&M University.
