HomeMy WebLinkAboutJOHNNY BADGETT MEMORIAL GUEST BOOK (2)Guest Book for John David Badgett Page 1 of 2 July 20, 2007 Johnny, You will be missed by so many of us and you will always be part of the CHS class of '64. It was so good to see you at our last reunion. I have such fond memories of you and can still visualize your smile at good old CHS. Love, Cheri Cheri Holland Bridges (College Station, TX) July 19, 2007 Friends & Family of Johnny -Living across the alley meant that we were often joined at the hip while growing up. A flood of often funny memories flooded me upon news of his death: (1) rigging a device to drop things on you when you opened the back gate, (2) his joy at the 1959 Dave Brubeck album "Time Out" with "Take Five" and seeing Brubeck this year reminded me of Johnny's jazz, (3) Mrs Badgett's famous kolaches (particularly the poppy seed open-faced ones), (4) swinging our feet under their 1950s chrome kitchen table, (5) Mrs. Badgett sitting with my Grandmother Gay when she died in 1952, (6) a neighborhood television watch in the early 1950s on their n?ew black & white set, (7) visiting Johnny when he lived in The Netherlands, (8) using the swing set in their back yard, (9) his amateur radio K5MVI, (10) Mary Frances & Richard, (11) Mr. Badgett whispering that his best investment was dropping a placesetttin of their best China dishes b/c he never was allowed to clear the table or to wash dishes, and (12) listening to the Czech radio station on Sunday afternoons. We did a lot of fun, crazy things when we were kids in CS...and a lot of serious ones. Love -David. You told me how much you enjoyed seeing and visiting with everyone there even though you got a little stressed. You overcame and had a good time. For many that will be the last memory of you.
