MUSTER ROLLS of BRAZOS COUNTY
Copies of Muster Rolls of Brazos County dated 1863 and
1$64 have been secured from the holdings of the Texas State
Archives. Volume V of the Advertiser will have these copied.
One caution - -the handwriting is sometimes obscure (or obscured
for some reason). Errors may be made, particularly with the
J, I, T and L. Also remember that these men were probably
better fighters than they were spellers:
The first of these rolls has the following in the
middle of these large ledger pages:
ROLL
Capt LOVE's Co.,
"A", 18 Brig. T.S.T.
August 5, '63.

by order of his Excellency F.R. LEUBBUCK (sic) G ? m of Texas
from the 5th day of August 1863 (date of this Muster) to
serve Six Months, unless sooner discharged."
(Also written in between the above lines of the heading: )
"Transferred' to the Confederate States Provisional Army.")
Headings of the columns are very interesting, but in
the interest of space, the columns will be numbered and the
headings given below.

RELIANCE CEMETERY (Brazos County TX) (Continued)
On pp. 63 through 68 is the second half of the listing for this
cemetery dome by Nina NOBLES and Mary BELL. The first half
of this listing is in Volume V Number 2 pp. 28 - 33.
One major project is not yet done -- listing the Bryan City
Cemetery. We will need a large group for this one. If you
can help call Mary Bell or Mary COOPER and we will try to set
up a time that will be best for most of us. We are making
progress: Keep it up;

GNL WITTY. Hamilton County, Texas Cemetery Records. For
976.4 each cemetery gives not only location (direction) but
also history. Last name index--be careful, some alpha-

Again, a special thanks to Nan ROSS, Reference Librarian
for the Bryan Public Library, for furnishing this list of new
books for'the Genealogical Section. As usual she has given
us some idea of what the books contains and how it is set up.
Make your"list now of those you want to check on in the next
few weeks. There are a lot of good possibilities here, and
of course, there are many other good ones already on the shelves.
Good searching:
WHAT'S NEW? TAMU LIBRARY
-----------------------------------------------------
Bill PAGE recently shared this information. The A&M
Library is acquiring the Nacogdoches Archives on microfilm.
They are also getting the 1890 Texas census--such as it is.
The 1890 census is the one that was lost and there are only
fragments remaining.
Bill said there was a good possibility that they will
get the microfilm copies of the Boston Transcript for 1840 -
1890. Old newspapers hold many possibillties such as obit-
uaries, information about what was happening during a period
we may be researching, possible ship lists and other very
interesting facts and information.

After Mary's 'Pedigree Party' we should have a number
of pedigree charts to publish and we are looking forward to
that new material for the Advertiser as well as for the Bryan
Library. I Some of our members who are unable to attend the
party may send us the pedigree chart anyway--like Mary C.
FORISTER who has been a good member the last four years and
has already renewed for 1 84. She sent her chart in along
with her renewal check. Hope others will follow her example.
See her chart on the next page. Thanks, Mary, and best wishes
and good hunting for 1984:
