HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-2192 - Ordinance - 08/08/1996ORDINANCE NO. 2192 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10, SECTION 3.E (2) (n), OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION RELATING TO SPEED ZONES, SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATING ADDITIONAL AREAS IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OF THE THIRTY MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED; RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION. WHEREAS, Texas law states that the maximum speed limit through an urban district is thirty miles per hour unless zoned by the proper authority; and WHEREAS, the City of College Station has the authority by City ordinance to alter maximum prima facie speed limits; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION: That Chapter 10, Section 3. E (2) (n), of the Code of Ordinances of the City of College Station, Texas, is hereby amended by adding a paragraph (28) to read as follows: "(28) Graham Road, for traffic moving southwest and northeast shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour from the intersection of State Highway 6 West Frontage Road and Graham Road to the intersection of Wellborn Road (FM 2154) and Graham Road." II. The preservation of the general welfare of the public necessitates immediate action; this Ordinance shall be effective from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Chapter of the City of College Station.
