AN ORDINANCE RENAMING KYLE AVENUE, WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF
COLLEGE STATION, TO GEORGE BUSH DRIVE.
WHEREAS, Texas A&M University will be the permanent home of the George Bush Presidential
Library; and,
WHEREAS, having determined that all citizens of this area will benefit now and in the future
fi.om the outstanding addition of the George Bush Presidential Library to the Texas A&M
University campus, the City Council desires to show its approval of such; and,
WHEREAS, the current section of George Bush Drive, fi.om its intersection with FM Road 2818
to its intersection with Texas Avenue, abuts into the current section of Kyle Avenue and for
reasons of continuance in the master street plan of the City of College Station;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, that Kyle Avenue be renamed George Bush Drive, and further,
such name change include Kyle Avenue fi.om its intersection of Texas Avenue and continue to its
intersection with State Highway 30, also known as Harvey Road; and that mindful that owners of'
property abutting Kyle Avenue may be affected by this change and will need time to make certain
arrangements, the City Council of the City of College Station further ordains that this change shall
not become effective until the 1st day of November, 1997.
