AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7.22 DISTRICT C-B BUSINESS COMMERCIAL
OF ORDINANCE 1638, THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION TO ALLOW LIMITED OUTSIDE BUSINESS ACTIVITY.
WHEREAS: The City Council of the City of College Station wishes to encourage development
along the University Drive corridor; and
WHEREAS: The City Council held a discussion on October 10, 1996 concerning the lack of
development along the University Drive corridor; and
WHEREAS: The City Council determined that the limitation on outside business activity in the C-
B Business Commercial district is an impediment to some kinds of development in this area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLLEGE STATION:
I.
That Section 7.22 A. of Ordinance 1638 be mended to read as follows
A. PURPOSE: This district is intended as an alternative to general commercial districts in areas
where certain commercial uses may be appropriate, but xvhere more intensive uses of the land may
not be compatible ~vith the surrounding character.
Only limited outside business activity is allowed. Outside business activity is defined as outside
display of merchandise for sale but does not include outside storage of merchandise OutsMe
business activity locations are permitted only in areas no farther then 50 feet from the build£:-g
where the primary business is located and are not allowed in areas out in the parking lot. Outside
business activity is not permitted within 50 feet from any adjacent roadway.
II.
This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
approval by the City Council and duly attested by the Mayor and City Secretary.
