AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1, SECTION 22, SUBSECTION A, OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION PERTAINING TO THE
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM.
WItERE~, Chapter 1, Section 22, Subsection A, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
College Station was adopted as Ordinance No. 1500 on January 26, 1984; and
WHEREAS, on September 16, 1996, the College Station City Council determined that increased
participation by citizens in the Neighborhood Watch Program was a desirable method to reduce
crime; and
WHEREAS, the City Council further determined that the percentage of participation necessary to
maintain community involvement in the Neighborhood Watch Program may fluctuate;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLLEGE STATION:
That Chapter 1, Section 22, Subsection A, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of College
Station is hereby amended to read as follows:
No Neighborhood Watch sign may be posted without certification by the City of College
Station Police Department that the watch group has met the criteria stipulated in the
College Station Police Department Policy Manual regarding the Neighborhood Watch
Program."
II.
This ordinance shall become effective from and aiter its passage in accordance with the City
Charter of the City of College Station.
