Update from June 18 meeting: Jon Denton addressed the suggestions from the last meeting concerning the application to the Texas Senior Games Association (TSGA) for membership in order to offer local games affiliated with TSGA. Mr. Denton had a copy of the National Senior Games Association official rules. The committee discussed credit card fees for registration. The Parks and Recreation Department will look into the possibility of integrating registration for the senior games into the current system used by the department. 2. Recommend events for 2013 local games: The committee discussed dates for the games and considered the events to be offered. The TSGA requires that a minimum of 10 events must be offered and swimming, track and field and bowling are required. Swimming and track & field need to be offered on separate days due to the large number of participant who compete in both events. The committee discussed offering 12 events as a cushion in case two events did not make. The committee agreed that the events offered at the College Station Senior Games are: archery, basketball events, bowling, cycling (with four events in cycling), golf, horseshoes, pickleball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, track and field. The two suggested dates are: May 16- 26, 2013 and May 23 — June 2. Both timelines include meeting on two weekends on Thursday — Sunday. 3. Potential sponsors for 2013 Games The City of College Station's budget for 2013 allows for $8,000 for the 2013 games. The anticipated participation for the 2013 games is between 400 and 500 athletes. Sally Motl suggested finding sponsors for individual events. Raschel York with St. Joseph offered to be a sponsor. The Parks and Recreation Department will put together a sponsor package. The committee agreed to present the application to the State Board at their next meeting on November 30th in San Antonio at the Jewish Community Center. College Station Senior Games will be required to hold an opening ceremony for the games. 4. Adjourn The meeting ended at 12:57pm
