Call to order and Roll Call. The meeting was called to order with a quorum present at 7:00 p.m. 2. Possible action concerning requests for absences of members. Marc Chaloupka requested an absence. Gary Erwin made a motion to approve the absence, and Megan Fuentes seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously. 3. Hear visitors. Jada Hammon spoke on behalf of Cedar Ridge Apartments. She is concerned with the safety issues caused by lack of lighting in Bee Creek Park particularly between the hours of 1 a.m. - 4 a.m. 4. Consideration, possible approval, and discussion of minutes from the September 12, 2017 meeting. Keith Roberts made a motion to approve the minutes, and Paul Dyson seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously. 5. Presentation, discussion and possible action on the Athletic Facility Priority Usage Policy Amendment. Kelly Kelbly presented the Athletic Facility Priority Usage Policy Amendment. Gary Erwin made a motion to approve the Policy Amendment, and Ann Hays seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously. 6. Update on Arts Council Building. David Schmitz presented this item. Informational item only and no action was taken. 7. Update from the committee members on their assigned parks. The committee members will either bring the checklist to the meeting or email it to David Schmitz monthly. All were in favor, and the meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m. Friends of Lick Creek Park City of College Station Parks and Recreation 1000 Krenek Tap Road College Station, TX 77840 Dear David Schmitz: folcspark@gmail.com friendsoflickcreekpark.wordpress.com October 9, 2017 This letter is a written commitment on the part of Friends of Lick Creek Park to fully support and partner with the City of College Station Parks and Recreation Department in the outfitting, maintenance and preservation of the Lick Creek Nature Center and the surrounding Lick Creek Park. Friends of Lick Creek Park (FOLCP) was established by a group of Brazos Valley residents in 2010 after the citizens of College Station approved a 2008 bond election for the construction of a nature center at Lick Creek Park. Today, we work with the City of College Station to help maintain the park and nature center and to increase its value for the widest spectrum of uses and users, compatible with its continued existence as a viable nature preserve. The mission of Friends of Lick Creek Park is to promote public awareness of Lick Creek Park and provide resources and facilities enhancing educational and recreational uses of the park. In order to meet our mission, we have created a Lick Creek Park Science Advisory Committee who look to work closely with the Parks Operation Division to focus its efforts on preserving the biodiversity of the park. Additionally, we aim to create an education committee that will focus on fully supporting the nature center and all educational programs within the park. These groups are made up of local citizens and will provide guidance and support to the city in each of their respective fields of expertise. To that end, we have been collecting annual dues and donations in addition to selling organization t-shirts for the past eight years and plan to use these monies for the sole purpose of supporting the park and nature center to meet our mission. Contractor working on punch list items. Punch list is to be completed by November 27th. CRESCENT POINT PARK • Adding additional park amenities such as exercise equipment, park benches, lights, and drinking fountain. • Under final review for Park staff. This project will be advertised for bids later this month. FUN FOR ALL PARK • Design firm working on new layout of park to accommodate current funding. G.K. FITCH/ RINGER LIBRARY TRAIL • Concrete path connecting Fitch Park to the Ringer Library. o Since this path crosses Bee Creek via a pedestrian bridge a flood study has been requested by planning and development. Engineering firm working on study. JOHN CROMPTON PARK • Design of basketball pavilion using Parkland Dedication Money. o Preliminary Design has been submitted and approved by staff. Firm working on final design phase. Drawings due first part of November. LICK CREEK PARK • Nature Center — Construction complete. Contractor currently working on Punch List items. Contractor working on bleachers. MEMORIAL CEMETERY (kr' • MC2A-R — Staff has asked that this section be re -plotted. Headstones lean inwards due to current dimensions of the gravesites. Expansion of these dimensions will prevent this moving forward. o Fence is COMPLETE Northgate Park • Design and construction of park located at 306 Spruce Street o Arkitex Studio has been awarded the contract. Currently working on scope of work and design fees. RAINTREE/ BRIGHT PARK • Sidewalk —Provide ADA access to most park amenities and relocate existing sidewalk away from creek ■ Currently working with lowest bidder on contracts and insurance. RINGER LIBRARY EXPANSION • Project to bid out in December. REATTA MEADOWS PARK • Development of Park — o Under final review by Park Staff. Park will be bid out for development later this month. SONOMA PARK • Development of Park using Parkland Dedication money- o Development of this park is on hold due to funding. SOUTHEAST PARK • Ball Field Design — PER complete. Design firm to begin work on project specifications. Gas well to be capped and contaminated soil to be removed. While pressure testing the new lines, it was discovered the main drain line in the pool is also leaking. Currently working with contractor on prices to repair. VETERANS PARK • Phase I expansion — Design firm finalizing bid specifications for two additional artificial turf fields, lighting, and parking.
