AUTHORIZING NEGOTIATION
WITH
BRAZOS VALLEY DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
TO
APPLY FOR SECTION 8 MODERATE REHABILITATION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Brazos Valley Development Council presently operates a Section
8 Housing Assistance Payments Program for the seven county region; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has invited the
Brazos Valley Development Council to make application for a Section 8
Moderate Rehabilitation Program for 50 units in Brazos County; and
WHEREAS, the City of College Station has housing rehabilitation as an
element of work in its Community Development Block Grant Program and
therefore has rehabilitation expertise; and
WHEREAS, on April 10, 1980 the Executive Committee of the Brazos Valley
Development Council authorized the Executive DiPector to negotiate with
the City of College Station in the implementation of the Section 8
Moderate Rehabilitation Program; and
WHEREAS, this Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Program is consistent
with and will help the City meet its goals in its Housing Assistance
Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION:
1. That the Mayor be authorized to negotiate with BVDC in the
filing of the application and in the implementation of the
Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Program fop a portion of
the 50 units allocated to Brazos County.
This resolution becomes effective upon adoption.
