RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Brazos Beautiful, Inc. is an organization dedicated
to a cleaner and more beautiful Brazos County; and
WHEREAS, the presence of colorful and well-maintained
landscaping enhances the quality of life in any community; and
WHEREAS, there is a growing sentiment and enthusiasm in the
community for the Crepe M~rtle, a beautiful, hardy plant which
provides a long blooming season, adding color to the landscape; and
WHEREAS, Brazos Beautiful, Inc. wishes to encourage the
planting of Crepe Myrtle plante throughout the community and to
encourage the cities of Bryan and College Station to recognize such
efforts in order to ultimately make Bryan/College Station the "Crepe
Myrtle Capitol of Texas"; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of Brazos Beautiful,
Inc. that:
All citizens of Bryan, College Station and Brazos County,
Texas be encouraged to plant Crepe Myrtle plants,
particularly in locations visible to others;
Requests be made to the c/t/es of Bryan and College
Stat/on to adopt similar resolutions encouraging their
citizens to do likewise and to plant Crepe Myrtle plants
on publicly owned property;
Other organizations be encouraged to undertake Crepe
Myrtle planting as civic projects; and
Efforts be devoted toward a number of plantings whereby
Bryan/College Station will be recognized as the "Crepe
Myrtle Capitol of Texas".
