Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum present, the Historic Preservation Committee was called to order by Chair Linda Harvell at 4:07 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Stephen C. Beachy Central Park Office,
1000 Krenek Tap Road, College Station, Texas 77842.
2. Hear Visitors
No visitors were in attendance.
3. Possible action and discussion on absence requests.
Committee excused the absence of Joel Mitchell, Libby Vastano, and Louis Hodges who provided notification prior to the meeting.
4. Possible action and discussion of previous minutes.
MOTION: The Committee voted unanimously to approve the minutes.
5. Discussion and possible action regarding the 2014 Exploring History Lunch Series, including update regarding specific efforts to secure sponsors for 2014 Exploring History Lunch Series.
Jerry Cooper reported on the Exploring History Lunch Series. Committee made a motion that they would support consideration of a change in the luncheon price. Motion passed unanimously.
6. Possible action and discussion of 75th Anniversary related activities, including but not limited to, sponsorships, fundraising efforts, and the Homecoming event.
Chair Harvell reported on the 75th Anniversary activities and budget:
November 12th from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. mandatory training for exhibit volunteers
November 12th at 4:30 p.m. a VIP Event
November 15th at 11:00 a.m. A&M Garden Club Rededication
November 15th from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. mandatory training for exhibit volunteers
November 15th the Homecoming Reunion at Southwood Community Center
November 16th the Vintage Car Shop at 9:30 a.m. and the Birthday Party at 3:00 p.m.
November 17th is the Day of the 75th Anniversary
9. Report from HPC staff on Historic Records Coordinator Office activities.
Committee discussed the upcoming committee appointments and terms.

Nov. 7, 2013 75th Anniversary Sub-Committee meeting, City Hall, 8:30 a.m.

Nov. 14, 2013 Classic Film, Annenberg Presidential Conference Center 7:00 p.m.
Nov. 15, 2013 Carter Park Rededication, Richard Carter Park 11:00 a.m.
Nov. 15, 2013 75th Homecoming/Reunion, Brian Bachmann Community Center 6:00 p.m.
Nov. 16, 2013 Vintage Car Show/Community Celebration, George Bush Library Birthday
Party, George Bush Presidential Library and Museum.
Nov. 20, 2013 Exploring History Lunch Lecture Series, Aldersgate United
Methodist Church, 11:30 a.m.
Speaker: Veterans’ Tribute, Sponsor: Medicare Equipment Specialties
11. Presentation and discussion of historical items presented by committee members, which may include historical books, pictures, artifacts, scrapbooks, or other memorabilia. No action
will be taken.
No items were discussed.
12. Discussion and possible action on future agenda items.
No items were suggested.
13. Adjournment
MOTION: The Committee moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:40 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013. The motion carried unanimously.
