Henry has lived in the College Station for 56 years, all of his life. He grew up working for his father’s surveying and engineering company, Joe Orr, Inc., which he runs today as Joe
Orr, a branch of Baseline Corporation.
Henry and Sandra have been married 30 years and have two grown children and two grandchildren. They are members of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Henry has been very active in several community organizations in Brazos County, as well as a few state-wide and national volunteer positions. Although he works full-time, directing
the surveying company, he spends many hours each week doing volunteer activities. Henry has gained a reputation as an expert on local history, giving several presentations each year
to local social and civic groups, writing a local history e-blast, and is co-author of a book about one of the first County Surveyors of Brazos County. He is also known for his living
history, surveying presentations as well as a Tank Commander in WWII battle reenactments.
Henry is an active member of many organizations, mostly history-related. He is Chair of the Brazos County Historical Commission, Past-President of the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural
History, President of SPJST Lodge 189, Adjutant of Sul Ross Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Immediate Past-President of the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic
Trail Association.
And nationally, Henry is the Secretary of the Descendants of Mexican War Veterans, and an active member of the Surveyors Historical Society, often travelling across the country for their
annual Rendezvous.
