HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/02/2017 - Regular Minutes - Historic Preservation Committee MINUTES Historic Preservation Committee Monday, October 02, 2017 – 4:00 pm Municipal Court 300 Krenek Tap Road College Station, Texas 77842. The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting. Present: Committee: Louis Hodges (chair) Marilyn Randall Gerald Burgner Katherine Edwards Sherry Frisk Anat Geva Andy Smith Not Present: Chantal Vessali Ben Zimmer City Staff: Kelly Kelbly Andrea Lauer Brooke Lisenbardt 1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. 2. Chantal Vessali and Ben Zimmer requested absences and they were approved. 3. The Historic Preservation Committee voted unanimously to approve the September minutes. 4. Leah Bloom, a student from Blinn was present to observe the meeting. 5. Kelly Kelbly passed out a copy of the Historic Home tour and stated that she will report back at the next Historic Preservation Committee meeting with quotes to have 1000 brochures printed. Depending on the quotes on color printing we might have to print the brochure in Black and White. No new info on the College Station History Book has been received. No Historic Marker applications were received. No new info on Oral History Interviews. Ben Zimmer and Marilyn Randall are working on securing speakers for the 2018 Lunch Lecture Series. The lunch will be at Southwood Community Center in November. Brooke stated that she is still working on cleaning up and organizing Project Hold. She is making it where things are lab eled and more user fr iendly. She is also searching for an unpaid intern. 6. Kelly Kelbly had nothing to update the committee on. 7. November 10th is the Veteran’s Day Ceremony at Veteran’s Park. Booneville Day’s is October 14th at the Brazos Center and Rosie the Riveter statue will be dedicated at Veteran’s Park on December 07, 2017 8. The committee will work on a commendation letter for Parks and Recreation staff member Marci Rodgers, honoring her hard work with the community and senior programming. Once the letter is complete they will present it at a future Council meeting. 9. Lou Hodges brought items to pass around. 10. Meeting was adjourned at 5:06 p.m.
