HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/26/2017 - Regular Minutes - Senior Advisory Committee College Station Senior Advisory Committee Regular Meeting June 26, 2017 Southwood Community Center 1520 Rock Prairie Rd. 10:00 a.m. MINUTES Members Present: Jean Adams, Carol Blaschke, Bryana Childers, Jerry Crockett, Russell Kohel, June Morris, Arlene Petroski, Barbara Pratt, Darla VanFickell, Christine Williams and Joanna Yeager Members Absent: Jeanne Machrowicz, Mickey Stokes and Janet Wood Staff Present: Marci Rodgers Visitors Present: Frank Duchmasclo I. Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Jerry Crockett at 10:02 a.m. II. Hear Visitors: Frank Duchmasclo addressed the committee and encouraged members to attend the Council Workshop Session on July 13, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. David Schmitz is scheduled to give council an update on the Bob Meyer Gift Fund. III. Approval of minutes from meeting held on May 22, 2017: Barbara Pratt made the motion to approve the minutes. Darla VanFickell seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. IV. Committee Reports: • Goals sub-committee updates: Barbara Pratt reported that she met with Jeanne Machrowicz and Marci Rodgers to discuss a donation form and to update the current goals. The sub-committee would like to create a donation form online. The sub-committee will review other organizations donation forms for ideas and work with the Parks Department Marketing Coordinator to discuss formatting. (Report attached) V. Discussion and possible action on revising Senior Advisory Committee Mission Statement: Marci Rodgers asked the committee to review the Senior Advisory Committee Mission statement and consider updating it. Members were asked to send suggestions in an email to Marci Rodgers before the next regular meeting. City of College Station Page 2 of 2 VI. Presentation, possible action and discussion on Senior Services Coordinator Report regarding current and upcoming programs and events: Marci Rodgers reviewed monthly attendance figures and activities. July calendars were distributed to the committee. July activities include classes offered in drawing, acrylic painting, crochet for beginners, bridge for beginners, watercolor and computer classes. An ice cream social is scheduled with the College Station Fire Department on Thursday, July 27th from 2-3 p.m. at Southwood Community Center. (Report attached) VII. Presentation, discussion and possible action on future agenda items: A Committee member may inquire about a subject for which notice has not been given. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be l imited to a proposal to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting.
