AGENDA ITEM NO . 1 : Call to Order.
Chairman Roberts called the meeting to order at 6 : 08 p . m .
AGENDA ITEM NO . 2 : Presentation , possible action , and discussion regarding meeting
minutes from June 05 , 2018 and July 03 , 2018 .
Board Member Mayne motioned to approve the June 05 , 2018 and July 03 , 2018 meeting minutes .
Board Member Echols seconded the motion, which passed (4 - 0 ) .
AGENDA ITEM NO . 3 : Presentation, possible action and discussion regarding absence
requests .

There was no discussion amongst the Board members .
AGENDA ITEM NO . 5 : Public hearing, presentation , possible action , and discussion to
consider a sign variance to the Unified Development Ordinance Section 7 . 5 ' Signs ' to allow
for two low-profile signs in addition to the one permitted freestanding sign for the Barron
Park Subdivision Lots 1 & 2 , generally located at 4201 State Highway 6 South , which is zoned
GC General Commercial. Case #AWV2018 -000016 (R. Lazo)
Rachel Lazo , Staff Planner, presented the staff report and stated that the applicant is requesting
a variance for two low-profile signs in addition to the one freestanding sign that is permitted .
Chairman Roberts opened the public hearing .
Richard Oats , Applicant, 4493 Sendera Court, College Station, gave a presentation to the
Board in regards to this case .
Jerry House, 2810 Cloisters Drive, College Station, spoke in favor of this variance .
Chairman Roberts closed the public hearing.
There was general discussion amongst the Board .
Board Member Mayne motioned to approve the variance in accordance with the plans provided
for enjoyment of a substantial property right due to the hardship of a new road going through the
property . Board Member Echols seconded the motion, which passed (4 - 0 ) .
AGENDA ITEM NO . 6 : Discussion and possible action on future agenda items - A
member may inquire about a subject for which notice has not been given . A statement
of specific factual information or the recitation of existing policy may be given. Any
deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent
meeting.
There was no discussion on future agenda items .

RECOMMENDED FORMAT FOR POSITIVE MOTION
I move to authorize the variance (s) of two low profile signs in addition to the one permitted
freestanding sign in accordance with the plans that the applicant provided (dimension , percent,
number, etc . ) to Section 7 . 5 of the Unified Development Ordinance
regarding (building setback, signs, lot dimension, etc . ) as it will not be contrary to the
to the public interest, due to the following special condition (s) :

and because a strict enforcement of the provisions of the Ordinance would result in
unnecessary hardship to this applicant being :
