Veterans Park & Athletic Complex
NFL Punt, Pass & Kick program is a FREE national
skills competition for ages 6-15 (as of Dec. 31,
2014) to compete in five separate age/gender
divisions in punting, passing and place kicking.
Participants must show proof of age by providing
a birth certificate. Participants may register and
compete in only one local competition. Competing
in more than one local competition will result in
automatic disqualification.

This free event promotes and celebrates the
international diversity and heritage of the
Brazos Valley. The festival will include: culture

Wolf Pen Creek Park
Activities include: a live nativity, ice skating rink,
hayrides, dance performances, inflatable’s, petting
zoo, live entertainment, photos with Santa at the
Arts Council of Brazos Valley and much more. A
holiday vendor village will be in the festival site
with a variety of vendors selling arts, crafts, jewelry,
candles and more.
Admission is free. Guests may bring their own
refreshments, but coolers must be 48 quarts or
smaller. Alcohol, glass containers and pets are
not allowed. Food vendors will also be available.
Parking is conveniently located at Post Oak Mall,
and handicap parking will be available at the
Colgate entrance off of Eastmark. Hayride drop-off

Jingle Bell Fun Run_________________________________________
Sunday, Dec . 7 at 1:15 p .m .
University Drive & South College Avenue
The 25th Annual Jingle Bell Fun Run will start at
the corner of University Drive and South College
Avenue and end at the corner of Texas Avenue and
Villa Maria. This two-mile run will be followed by
the Bryan-College Station Christmas Parade.
Registration runs Oct. 1-Nov. 30. Entry fee
is $15 before Nov. 16 or $20 after. Shirts are
guaranteed to those who register before Nov. 16.
Dogs are welcome. The run will not be timed,
and a shuttle will be available to pick up
participants at the end of the route to transport
back to the start line.

Start Smart Sports introduces 4-to-6-year-olds to sports through a step-by-step approach that builds confidence and self-esteem in a fun, positive environment. It also helps prepare them for future sports participation. As the program progresses and children show improvement, the skills are altered so that each child remains challenged. Parents will get to spend quality time with their child while learning how to properly teach and support them in sports. Teams will not play games, only scrimmages.

SPY KIDS LEGO ADVENTURE
Ages 6-12 will use science, crafts, and more as they delve into the science behind espionage. Legos will be used as your
classified assignments, building of spy tools and more! Participants will get to take home their own spy car made out of
LEGOs as we race them down our own version of a Pinewood Derby! Please bring a water bottle and a snack.

HOGWARTS ACADEMY
Calling all “muggles” ages 6-12! Training begins with a division of students into their ‘houses’ by use of our very own
sorting hat. Participants will make dragon drool, invisible ink, experiment with ‘potions’ and levitate objects with a
special wand. Campers will play Quidditch, make butterbeer, chocolate frogs, and create their own wand. Young wizards
will be able to participate in duels with wands as a final test of their abilities. Each student should bring a water bottle
and a snack.

JEDI POWERS
Ages 6-12 can test their JEDI abilities by examining unseen forces (such as magnetism and static electricity to levitate
objects), creating their own version of the Death Star, making Mustafar volcanoes explode, playing with Galactic Goo,

FLIGHT SCHOOL
Imaginations will soar as ages 6-12 explore creativity, fantasy and flight. Participants will experiment with the principles
of flight as they make paper airplanes and helicopters, build hovercrafts, and launch rockets up to 200 feet in the air.

TEXAS HUNTER’S SAFETY CERTIFICATION COURSE
This course is required by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department to insure that all hunters are properly prepared for the
hunting season. All hunters over the age of 9 must successfully complete this hunter’s safety course to hunt in Texas.
Anyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent to class.

Afterschool Program for TeensThe purpose of the Southwood Community Teen Center is to meet the needs of the local community by providing a quality afterschool program at an affordable price for 6th-8th graders. The Center offers a supervised, engaging experience for teens on weekdays throughout the school year from 3:30-5:45 p.m. The center is a great place to meet up with friends to socialize, and participate in age appropriate activities. The College Station Memorial Cemetery is made up of a total of 56 acres, with 20 acres designated to
the Aggie Field of Honor. The beautifully designed facility includes an information center, a committal
shelter, columbariums and standard burial plots in each location.
Another special feature is the Spirit Gate that honors the life and spirit of those Aggies who have
passed on. As you look through the gate to Kyle Field there is a sense of connection between this final
resting place and the place where these Aggies were educated and launched their lives. And one only
needs to be an Aggie in Spirit to call this your final home. Former Students, friends, family and anyone
who has a love of this university and its community are welcome.

The College Station Cemetery was created in 1948 from 31 acres bought near the Shiloh community,
approximately two miles south of Texas A&M on Highway 6. That tract surrounded an existing
cemetery, which had been deeded to the Methodist Church in 1870 by W.G. and Josephine
Rector. The A&M Methodist Church, in 1948, turned over those four acres to College Station to
be incorporated into the city cemetery. In 1973, the cemetery was decreased in size when the city
decided to designate 18 of the acres for the creation of Bee Creek Park.

The Lincoln Recreation Center (LRC) is located on the corner of Holleman
Drive and Eleanor Street, near College Station’s Historic South Side District.
The LRC can accommodate most social gatherings indoor and outdoor,
athletic competitions (volleyball and basketball), and small to large
meetings. There is a community room, multi-purpose room, game room
and a gymnasium available to rent. The outdoor area is perfect for special
events and includes a seasonal splash park, bench tables and playground. Parking is available with 120
spaces and five handicap spots.

Pavilions and dog parks are rated per day. Reservations are all-day and on a first-come, first-served basis. Fees must be
paid in full at the time of reservation. Deposits will be refunded if facilities are left clean and free of damage. Reservations
canceled within seven days prior to the rental date will incur a $20 cancellation fee.

1. No campfires allowed without prior approval.
2. No dunking booths, hot air balloons, pony rides, or livestock without prior approval.
3. Tents must be pre-approved and location coordinated with Parks Operations Division staff.
4. Pavilions may be used if they are not rented; however, no access will be allowed into kitchen or
restroom facilities.
5. Athletic Fields must be reserved separately from Pavilion Rentals. This must be done through the
Stephen C. Beachy Central Park office, 1000 Krenek Tap Road, 979.764.3486.
6. Dogs are to be kept under restraint at all times. Dogs may only be without a leash at the two
designated dog parks or at Lick Creek Park where the dog is required to be under voice control.
7. All wildlife in city parks is protected.
8. It is unlawful to cut or destroy vegetation.
9. All vehicles must park in designated areas on pavement only.
10. It is unlawful to wade or swim in park ponds.
11. All firearms, airguns, crossbows, and bows and arrows are prohibited.
12. It is unlawful to litter in city parks.
13. Non-city-related advertising in city parks is prohibited.
14. Community park curfews are 1-5 a.m. Neighborhood park curfews are 11 p.m.-5 a.m.
15. Any person wishing to sell any items (food, drinks, shirts, caps, etc.) in a park must apply for a Park
Vendor’s Permit at the Parks and Recreation Office (979.764.3410) and possibly a Health Permit
from the Brazos County Health Department (979.361.4450).
16. No off-road vehicles are allowed in city parks.
17. Golfing or (practice) driving of golf balls in the parks is prohibited.
18. Please obey all “FIELDS CLOSED” signs.
19. Glass bottles and containers are prohibited.
20. Alcohol may be consumed in city parks by adults 21 years of age or older. If you have a function
where alcohol is served, neither the alcohol nor anything else can be sold without a TABC license.
21. Fishing in park ponds is free and open to the public. Texas Community Fishing Lake special
regulations, as well as statewide regulations, apply to all city ponds. For special and statewide
regulations, fishing license information, and daily bag limits, contact Texas Parks and Wildlife.
