HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/28/2014 - Regular Minutes - Senior Advisory CommitteeCollege Station Senior Advisory Committee Regular Meeting Monday, April 28, 2014 10:00am Southwood Community Center 1520 Rock Prairie Rd Minutes Members Present: Margaret Carmichael, Jerry Crockett, Jon Denton, Frank Duchmasclo, Ann Hays, Russell Kohel, Susan McGrail, Pearl Robertson, Pat VanderBoom and Joanna Yeager Members Absent: Jerry Markowich I. Call to order The meeting was called to order at 10:00am by Frank Duchmasclo, Chairman II. Hear Visitors Ariel Rosentswieg, Content Coordinator, with Bryan Bro adcasting introduced herself and said that she would like to visit with the committee on content and information they would like to see in the publications they produce. The committee asked that this item be placed on next month’s agenda. III. Approval of minutes from regular meeting on March 31, 2014 Jerry Crockett made a motion to approve the minutes. Pat VanderBoom seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. IV. Presentation and discussion regarding “Bob Meyer” Memorial Committee Frank Duchmasclo reported that the committee to discuss the Bob Meyer bequest to the City of College Station to benefit senior programs will meet following the regular advisory committee meeting. Members were encouraged to make suggestions and share their ideas. V. Discus sion and possible action concerning Senior Advisory Committee Goals FY 2014 The committee reviewed and updated the 2014 Goals. See attached goals. VI. Presentation, possible action and discussion on Senior Services Coordinator Report regarding current and upcoming programs and events See attached report. Marci Rodgers encouraged members to sign-up to work a two hour shift at the Seniors Expo to distribute information on senior programs offered by the City of College Station. Jerry Crockett signed up to work the 9 -11shift; Margaret Carmichael and Frank Duchmasclo will work the 11-1 shift; and Ann Hays and Susan McGrail will work the 1 -3 shift. VII. Presentation, discussion and possible action on future agenda items: A Committee member may inquire about a subjec t for which notice has not been given. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting. • Next Regular Meeting: May 19, 2014 • Bryan Broadcasting • Bob Meyer Memorial Committee report VIII.
