April 7, 1948
Members present:. bla.yor Langford; Councilmen Ames, Black, Brown and Orr;
City Secretary b1cGinnis and City Manager Vaughn. The newly elected Councilman
from Ward II, R. B. Halpin, was present.
This meeting was called for the purpose of canvassing the votes of the City
election held April 6, 1948; at which time the people balloted a mayor, three
councilmen and a city secretary.
The canvass found the results of the balloting to be:
For Mayor:
Ernest Langford 162

J. C. Gaines 1
For Councilman, Vlard I:
J. A. Orr 68
Tim Faulkenberry 8
For Councilman, Vlard II:
Robert B. Halpin 20
Sidney Brown 1

For City Secretary:

Councilman Brown made a motion that the City Council accept the results of the
election held April 6, 1948 as tabulated above and enter the results on the
permanent records of the City. The motion was seconded by Councilman Orr and
the council vote was unanimous.

The following members of the City Council declared elected as the results of
balloting April 6, 1948 signed the oath of office and the signatures witnessed
by Mayor Langford:
