BRYAN+COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
MARCH 21,2006
On the 21ST day of March 2006, the Bryan+ College Station Public Library Advisory Eoard of the cities of
Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular scheduled meeting at the Bryan Public Library, 201 E. 26th
Street,Bryan,Texas and the following members were present:

2. Also present were Mrs. Clara.Mounce, Community Librarian; Mrs. Laura Mills, Secretary; Olivia Burnside,
and Bruce Albright of the City of College.Station.
3.The meeting was called to order at 5:15.p.m...by President Larry Ringer.
4. The minutes of the meeting for January 17,2006 were approved as distributed.
5. The monthly stats for January and February 2006 were discussed. Mrs. Mounce commented that DVD's
were popular and helped increase circulation. A topic of discussion was how DVD's and spoken word CD's
are selected Mrs.Mounce stated that the libraries purchase what is available from our vendor in all categories.
6. In old business,Mr. Ringer commented that the dinner honoring Clara Mounce on her 75th birthday,and 25
years of service as the Community Librarian was a very special occasion:
7. In new business, the Intergovernmental contract between the cities of Bryan and College Station was
discussed. Mr. Scherr pointed out several items for discussion including employee benefits in section 2.02.
8. In the librarian's report, Mrs. Mounce said that the Texas Library Association Annual Conference is
scheduled for April 25-28. Featured speakers will be Julie Andrews and Kinky Friedman. Mrs.Mounce stated
that a digital voice recorder had been purchased for the oral history project at the Carnegie History Center.
Applications will be taken and a volunteer recruited to help with the project. The Aggie Big Event will be
March 25 and Aggies are Scheduled to repair art prints and frames for the Bryan Library. Mrs..Mounce reported
that both libraries were fully staffed. MTS.Mounce expressed_appreciation and felt honored for the"Celebrate
Clara"luncheon hosted by the Friends of the Library on March 4th. The annual Book Sale is April 1'`at the
Bryan Library meeting room.
9. Agenda items for the next meeting on.May 16,2006 at the Carnegie History Center will include a review of
library policies. Olivia Burnside will also provide a report on the College Station Capital Improvement Project,
specifically the future of the library facilities.
