On the 12th of April, 1978, the Library Board of the City of Bryan, Texas convened
in regular session in the regular meeting place in the Reference Room located in
the Library Building at 5 p.m. with the following members present.

ITEM 1: The minutes of the March meeting were approved.
ITEM 2: The revised statistical forms were examined and discussed.
ITEM 3 : The booklist was approved.
ITEM 4: The librarian reported on the TLA Legislative Happening which was held here
on April 2nd. Turnout of library supporters was small.
ITEM 5: The librarian briefly discussed the recent meeting with College Station City
Council.
ITEM 6: Mrs. Pringle reported on the TLA annual meeting held in Ft. Worth on April 5-8.
Much emphasis was placed on legislative efforts and it was noted that Texas
ranks 47th in state aid to libraries.
ITEM 7: Personnel action resulted in the reclassification of one staff member and
increases in pay for a total of five members.
ITEM 8: The Board discussed the possibility of a security system to alleviate the
problem of theft of librarymaterials. Mrs. Peters made a motion that the
librarian institute an organized program of contacting business concerns
which provide theft prevention materials for libraries.
The meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
