HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/16/1999 - Regular Minutes - Bryan College Station Library System Advisory Board MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BRYAN+ COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD • November 16, 1999 On the 16th day of November 1999, the Bryan+College Station Public Library Advisory Board of the cities of Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular meeting in the Bryan Public Library, 201 E. 26th Street, Bryan, Texas, and the following members were present: 1. Also present were Mrs. Clara B. Mounce, Community Librarian and Mrs. Laura E. Mills, secretary/Library, and Cathie McQuistion, Automation Coordinator. 3. President Larry Ringer called the meeting to order. There were no visitors. 4. Dave Moore moved that the minutes for September 1999 be approved; seconded by Mary Chauvin, the motion passed. • 5. Monthly statistics for September 1999 and October 1999 were discussed. Cathie McQuistion explained statistics of the library's website. Renewal of patron's items is now available on the Internet. 6. A. Cathie McQuisition provided handouts on Y2K readiness and a contingency plan if there are problems. She reported that Dynix has assured the library that the system is okay for the new year. A new phone system has been installed for the entire City of Bryan that is Y2K compliant. B. Mrs. Mounce informed the board that the City of Bryan Legal Department created a Deed of Gift explanation and form for items donated to the library. 7. Mrs. Mounce stated that she will solicit help from Dr. John Blackburn and City Manager Mike Conduff to address Brazos County officials about the removal of the Law Library, 8. In the Librarian's report, Mrs. Mounce stated that she has submitted a proposal to request support from the Junior League for Summer Reading Club 2000. The Junior League has provided funds and volunteers for the past three years. Mrs. Mounce commented that the City of Bryan is involved in a job description and pay classification survey. She announced that three librarian's positions were currently available. 9. Agenda items of the January 2000 meeting include an update on Y2K and election of officers. 9.
