OF THE BRYAN LIBRARY BOARD
SEPTEMBER 20 , 1994
01 . On the 20th of September 1994 the Library Board of the City of Bryan,
Texas convened in a regular session at the Bryan Public Library at 5 : 15 p .m.

Also present was Mrs . Clara B . Mounce, City Librarian, and Mrs . Laura Mills ,
secretary . Librarians present were Ms . Angela Alford, Ms . Kathleen Dill , Mrs .
Ann Moore, and Mrs . Nan Ross .
3. Brent Zwernerman and Elaine Vance were visitors . Mr . Zwernerman
interviewed board members about the history of the Carnegie for an article in
the Eagle newspaper to spark citizen interest in the project .
4 . The minutes were approved as mailed.
; 5 . The statistics for July and August were provided in the mailout .
6 . There were no committee reports . A committee for Carnegie fundraising
ay be formed to raise additional funds for the project .
IF . In the librarian ' s report, Mrs . Mounce reported that the Texas Library
Association District III annual meeting will be October 8 . The Carnegie
Project will get underway in early 19957. The Friends of the Library have
pledged $30 , 000 for furnishings , and the Woman ' s Club will have a fundraising
luncheon in November .
Mrs . Dill reported that about 2, 000 children enrolled in the Summer
Reading Club and about 36% completed their goals . Eleven activities were held
in the summer with an average attendance of 250 . Ms . Moore reported that
there was a new Library Assistant for the circulation department . Ms . Alford
reported that the Branch Library will interview for the driver/clerk position
and that a part-time position will be available in the new budget year .
Mrs . Ross reported that reference questions were slightly up for the month .
8 . A. An update on the Carnegie Xeriscape Project showed that a presentation
was held at the Library to show the projected plans . Activity on the project
will start before the end of the year .
9 . Under new business, Mrs . Mounce reported that the Friends of the Library
book sale will be held October 6 , 7 , 8 .
10 . There were no request for items on the next agenda.
11 . The meeting djourned at 6 :45 p .m.
