OF "THE BRYAN LIBRARY BOARD
SEPT. 21 , 1993
•1 . On the 21st of Sept . 1993 the Library Board of the City of Bryan, Texas
convened in a regular session in the Bryan Library auditorium at 5 : 15 p .m.

Also present was Mrs . Clara B . Mounce, City Librarian, and Mrs . Laura Mills ,
secretary . Librarians present were Ms . Angela Alford., Ms . Kathleen Hannan,
Mrs . Nan Ross , and Mrs . Ann Moore.
3. Yvonne Salce of the Eagle was a visitor .
4 . The minutes were approved with one correction .
5 . The statistics for July and August were provided in the mailout .
6 . Mrs . Ragna Tolson reported on the Carnegie Restoration Committee. After
meeting with the City Manager , the committee reports that there is no seed
money available for the project with which to apply for grant money ; however ,
the Friends of the Library have set aside $30, 000 to buy furnishings in memory
•of Hazel Richardson . Approximately $500 , 000 is needed for the project .
7 . In the Librarian ' s report, Mrs . Mounce reported that a program for home
schoolers and a project with the Junior League may be implemented . Two teens
are currently doing some community service work and are washing Easy picture
books . On Oct . 6th , a representative from Dynix will come to demonstrate an
an automation project .
8 . A. There was no unfinished business .
9 . A. Mrs . Bienski stated she was pleased to serve as President of the Library
Board especially during the Carnegie Restoration project .
B . 1 . Angela Alford, Branch Librarian, reported that Summer Reading Club
statistics showed lower enrollment but a higher percentage of completions .
Some shelving was delivered damaged , but upon replacement, will complete the
wall space at the Branch .
2 . Kathleen Hannan reported that SRC for Bryan showed lower enrollment
with a higher completion rate . Average attendance at activities was 220 . They
are currently repairing Easy picture books and have rearranged furniture for
carpet shampooing and delivery of the antique doll ' s house.
3 . Nan Ross reported that September reference questions were increasing
and a weeding project would be started soon .
4 . Ann Moore dittoed that SRC statistics for the Bookmobile showed
lower enrollment with a higher percentage of completions .
C. Mrs . Mounce reported that an antique doll ' s house had been donated to
the library by Mrs . Glada Trant Crocker and will be delivered this week .
10 . Mrs . Mounce stated that the next meeting will be at the Branch Library .
11 . The meeting adjourned at 6 : 15 p .m.
