On the 19th of May , 1992, the Library Board of the City of Bryan, Texas convened in a regular session in Bryan;;Library auditorium at 5 : 00 p .m. and the following members were present : 2 . Alice Nixon, Associate City Librarian, and Mrs . Laura Mills , secretary . 3 . Judy Buys , the new reference librarian was a visitor . 4 . The minutes of the March 17 , 1992 meeting were approved . 5 . The statistics for March and April , 1992 , were provided in the mailout . April statistics showed the first totals for TCILL requests since the service started. The Branch hours have increased. 6 . Vickie Bienski reported that no further meetings had been held with the Bryan Historic Landmark Commission. 4107 . In the librarian ' s report, Mrs . Mounce reported that the library was testing a new health reference database whereby diseases , illnesses and drugs could be researched by a lay person as a source of information, not diagnoses or treatment. Mrs . Mounce commented on the recent newspaper articles that featured Nan Ross and Alice Nixon . She commented that several letters had been received from businesses and individuals commending the library . The Friends of the Library will be purchasing two new Konica copiers for the main and branch libraries . The librarian announced that a deposit collection at the Federal Prison Camp would be placed for use with the Intensive Confinement Center . Mrs . Mounce stated that the proposed budget request included a 2% increase, mostly for built- in salary increases due to longevity . The library also received an inheritance from the Doak estate; details are not yet known . 8 . In unfinished business , Elaine Vance reported that the City Council voted to spend an initial $20 ,000 for a master plan, but had not considered the resolution to make the Carnegie a Branch of the Bryan Public library . 9 . In new business , Alice Nixon informed the board of Summer Reading Club activities , with the Kick-off event to be held- on June 3 . 10 . In request for items for agenda, it was mentioned that a new board member should be appointed by the council and further developments on the Carnegie would include a Request for Proposal to be handled by the Community Development Department of the City of Bryan . 11 .
