OF THE BRYAN LIBRARY' BOARD
• July 17 , 1990
1 . On the 17th of July, 1990 , the Library Board of the City of Bryan ,
Texas convened in a regular session in the Library auditorium
at 5 : 05 p .m. and the following members were present :

Also present were Mrs . Clara B . Mounce, City Librarian ; Ms . Alice N*'xor
Associate City Librarian , and Mrs . Laura Mills , secretary .
3 . No visitors were present .
4 . The minutes of the May 15th meeting were approved .
5 . Statistics for May and June were reviewed . Mrs . Mounce pointed out
that circulation for the main library decreased by approximately
2, 000 and that the Branch increased by approximately the same
amount . A new statistic in the report shows that more than 17 , 000
people visited the library during the month of June, 1990 .
6 . There were no committee reports , but the president appointed a
nominating committee consisting of Ragna Tolson and Dale Knobel to
recommend a president and vice president for the Library Board .
7 . In the librarian ' s report, Mrs . Mounce reported that two bids had
been received for the installation of the thermal windows on the
north side of the library . The recarpeting project for the first
floor is scheduled after the window installation this fall .
Mrs . Mounce stated that a regional meeting of the Texas Conference
on Library and Information Services leading up to White House
Conference in Washington would be held in the Bryan Library on
September 8th . Board members were encouraged to attend . Guest
speakers will be Gary Halter , `_4 .1w Ogg, and Suzanne Gysley .
An update in the Summer Reading Club revealed that more than 2 , 000
children had enrolled to participate in the reading program.
8 . Judy Duer , new reference librarian, was introduced .
9 . In new business , the proposed library budget for 1990-91 had been
discussed .
10 . There were no requests for items for the agenda.
11 . The meeting adjourned at 6 : 15 p .m.
