On the 20th of September 1988, the Library Board of the City of Bryan, Texas, convened in a regular session in the regular place in the library auditorium at 5:05 p.m. and the following members were. present : 2_ ATTENDANCE Member Present # of meetings # of meetings Absent held since attended since appointment appointment Mrs. Carolyn Alford, President P 21 19 Mr. Edward Madeley P 41 41 Mrs. Ragna Tolson P 3 3 Mrs. Mildred Thomas P 21 21 Mrs. Janet LaMountt P 14 10 Mrs. Elaine Vance P 3 2 Mrs. Lillian Fickey P 2 1 Also present were Mrs. Clara B. flounce, City Librarian; Mrs. Jerilynn Williams, Associate City Librarian, and Mrs. Laura Mills, secretary. • 3. Visitor was Mrs. Mary Henshaw, the new Extension Services Librarian, who was introduced during New Business. 4. The minutes for July were approved as presented. 5. Statistics for July and August were. reviewed_ 6 There were no committee reports. 7. In the librarian 's report , Mrs. .Mounce announced that a new computer was received from the Central Texas Library System. Mrs. Mounce reported that she had not heard from the County Law Library Committee on whether or not the proposed budget including the 20-hour clerk 's position had been approved. 8. The City Librarian reported that the Librarian I positions have been upgraded and reclassified effective October 1 , 1988. She reported that the College Station Branch budget included funds for a book drop and the additional staff hours needed to cover the workload_ 9. Mrs. Williams informed the Board that Mrs. Peggy Sampson was the new coordinator for the Literacy Council , which is now housed in the old Carnegie Library. 10. Mrs. Mounce asked that the agenda for the November meeting include board members ' ideas for a celebration of the 20th anniversary of • the library in 1989. 11 .
