OF THE BRYAN LIBRARY BOARD
SEPTEMBER 16, 1981
The Bryan Library Board of Trustees met in regular session on September 16, 1981.
Present were Mrs. Bookman Peters, Mrs. R. H. Harrison, III, Mrs. Willie Pruitt, Mr.
Mickey McGuire and Mr. Vic Paulos.
Excused were Mrs. C. J. Allen and Mrs. Willie Belle Bogard.
The minutes-of,the August meeting were approved as mailed.
The librarian explained the monthly statistical records and accounts which
were mailed to each Board member. These statistics and booklists were approved.
An invitation from the Board of Trustees of T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library,
Diboll, Texas, was acknowledged. The dedication and open house is scheduled for "
September 27, 1981.
Mrs. Mounce was requested to prepare a resolution for the Board's signature to
• be given to Mrs. Linda Pringle commending her for her dedicated, conscientious
service as City Librarian.
The District III, Texas Library Association annual meeting was discussed. It
will be held at Texas A&M University on September 19. Representative Bill Presnal
will be one of the speakers. The Board members expressed interest in attending this
meeting.
New personnel appointments were discussed. Sue Sommerfeld has been appointed
Children's Librarian, effective September 14, 1981. Two new general clerks, Melba
Crochet and Denise Degelia, have been employed also.
New salary schedules for library personnel for fiscal year 81-82 were discussed.
The librarian explained the purposesoof`Athe new equipment purchased for the
library. The index table will house a collection of consumer oriented materials;
the information center will serve to display announcements of community interest.

• The annual book sale of the Friends of the Bryan Public Library will be held
at Manor East Mall on October 1, 2, and 3. Leonore Russell is chairman of this very
popular event.
The possibility of acquiring a used electric typewriter was offered by Mr.
Paulos, and received enthusiastically.
The meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.

On the 16th of September , 1981 the Library Board of the City of Bryan, Texas convened
in regular session in the regular meeting place in the Reference Room located in the
Library Building at 5 p.m. with the following members present.

ITEM 1. The minutes of the August meeting were approved as mailed.
