HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/01/2016 - Regular Minutes - Historic Preservation Committee O .4.,„ ,,o CITY CA'COLLEGE STATION Home of Texas A&M University' Minutes Historic Preservation Committee Monday,August 01,2016—4:00 pm The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting Present: Committee: Louis Hodges (chair) Marilyn Randall Gerald Burgner Katherine Edwards Charli Jones Edelmiro Escamilla Not Present: Michael Hardy Annette Taylor Justin Lopez City Staff: David Schmitz Andrea Lauer I. Called to order and announced a Quorum @ 4 pm. 2. Michael Hardy and Annette Taylor requested an absence and it was approved by the committee. 3. The committee voted unanimously to approve the minutes. 4. No visitors were present. 5. The committee discussed a possible historic home/houses tour, focusing on the houses that were moved from campus. Katherine Edwards made a motion that the committee use the money left over from the 75th Anniversary to have a brochure created that could be placed at City Hall and CVB, Edelmiro Escamilla seconded the motion, all were in favor and vote passed unanimously. Katherine said she would email the house list to the rest of the members and she asked that they each try to locate a few houses on the list to see if they still exist. It will be discussed at the September meeting. 6. The American Mile bricks are on order and will be installed by the Parks and Recreation department. Lou sent out the Historic Marker application that the Dupriest family submitted. The committee reviewed it and Marilyn Randall made a motion to approve the application and Katherine Edwards seconded the motion. The vote passed unanimously. The Committee will start booking 2017 speakers for Exploring History Lunch Lecture in August. Nothing new was discussed on the website. 7. David Schmitz reported that Historic Preservation Budget for FY17 is $7,778. 8. Booneville Days is coming up in October and volunteers are needed. 9. The tour brochure was asked to be on a future agenda item. 10. Katherine Edwards passed around a book that she brought from home. 11. The meeting was adjourned at 4:55.
