Welcome: till Lay called the meeting to order at 11):15am P. Ai.i.roval of May 21, 2001 minutes: The minutes were approved as circulate . III. Introduce Summer intern- eremy Milliman: introduced Jeremy whi will be researching grants an.: Ilinding available for senior programs an* facilities. He is also working for other divisions within the department as needed. IV. New ,10,,oard menibers art* rec;s: ,; ien,o,ation for officers: The Parks ani ecreation loard approved five new members for the Senior Aivisory Committee. They are Haskell Monroe, Jerry Jordan, Neal Nut.;11, I aura Holmes and Suzanne Reynolds. The new members will begin in July and serve for three years. ifficers for the committee will be till I ay, Chairman and Carol Parzen, Vice-Chair. ihyliis tozier made the matisn that the officers for the Senior Advisory Committee serve two-year terms. Annie Lee Finch seconded :e mothm. The -notion passei. Bill Lay agreed to serve a second year as chairman. The recom ,endatiin will be sent to the Parks and Recreatitn1.1/4 oars!. toard Orientation dates to be discussed: The new members will be brought up to date with the activities and purpose of the con a'li.ftee at the next regular committee meeting. The committee will take the first part of the meeting tt, orient the new memiters and answer any questions. The new memiers will receive minutes from the past three months and iy-laws prior to the July 3&h meeting. VI. Senior Friendly Award Nomination- oger Signature Store: The Cc-c:aittee awarded ,;e first award to the new Kroger store and photos and a story will be featured in the July issue of the Golden Eagle. Members were encouraged to attend the June le meeting of the City Council at 7:00pm for the reco;?_nition of the Senior Friendly award by the Mayor. Wendell Horne spoke of the positive focus for this type of recognition for businesses in our community. VII. Senior Services Coordinator reort: See Attached VIII. Recognition of memiters leaving: Members leaving the committee were recognized by 4411 Lay and presented with a -plaque of appreciation from the City of College Station for their suppoft and service on the Senior Advisory Ca;-!,mittee.
