CENTRAL PARK CONFERENCE ROOM 1000 KRENEK TAP ROAD MEMBERS PRESENT: Bob DeOtte, Vice Chair; Carol Reynolds; Greg Taggart and Debra Anderson MEMBERS ABSENT: Ron Gay, Chair; and Mike Manson STAFF PRESENT: Steve Beachy, Director; Eric Ploeger, Assistant Director, Bridgette George CPS, Staff Assistant VISITORS: Randy Merrill, 900 Hereford I. Approval of Minutes: Minutes for the meeting of May 14, 1996, were approved as submitted. II. Hear Visitors: No unscheduled visitors were present. III. *• aderation of Proposed Parkland Dedication - Pebble Hills Subdivision: After some discussion, the board decided they wanted the developer to provide for a 20' access on the southeast corner of the park for maintenance access and a 150' access point on the southwest side for citizens. They also*anted access on both sides of the park and requested that the proposed street on the north side of the park be moved adjacent to the park to give it 100' of frontage. Carol motioned to accept the proposed parkland dedication with the proposed changes by the board. The motion was seconded by Debra, and was approved by the board. IV. Subcommittee Reports: Naming of Parks Facilities: The subcommittee met previously to discuss renaming Southwood Pool and Fairview Park. Southwood Pool - The Masters of the Brazos Swim Team requested that Southwood Pool be renamed for Cindy Hallaran due to her endless contributions to swimming in the community. Greg motioned to rename Southwood Pool to the Cindy Hallaran Pool. The motioned was seconded by Carol and approved by the board. Steve stated that the renaming dedication will be held during the 1997 opening season, probably the first week of June. Fairview Park - Ms. Merrill presented a deed that showed Mr. Luther Jones donated land that was later named Fairview Park. Ms. Merrill requested that the park be renamed after Mr. Jones. Carol motioned to rename Fairview Park to Luther Jones Park. The motion was seconded by Debra and approved by the board. The renaming ceremony will most likely be held the spring of 1997. V. Wayne Smith Baseball Complex Update: Ric displayed a plan for the complex and reviewed the layout. He mentioned that there were two properties that still needed to be acquired in order to complete the project. The city will probably utilize the Wellborn entrance to Southgate Village Apartments for the parking lot entrance to the complex. Parks Board Minutes June 11, 1996 Page 1 of 2 VI. Capital Improvement Program Report: Ric stated that Southwood Pool is complete except for a few punch list items. He mentioned that Pebble Creek Park construction began recently and should be complete prior to the opening of the school. The Central Park Pond project plans are being reviewed. The plan includes a continuous sidewalk starting from the ballfield parking lot to the basketball court. Ric stated that the Wolf Pen Creek Guardrails have been installed at the Holleman and Dartmouth intersection. VII. Other Business/Board Concerns: No other business was discussed. VIII.
