TO: Parks and Retreat on Board FROM: Steve Beachy SUBJECT: ITEMS‘- OF INTEREST 1, Two committees have been appointed by Judy LeUnes to prepare separate recommendations for the Board. These are the Land Acquisition Committee end the User Fee Committee. The :User: Fees: Commi ttee w l study all fees charged by this Department and 'make recommendations for any changes in 1986. After these recommendations are accepted by the Full Board they will be presented to the City Council final approval. , ..fo.:............... ..... The Land Acquisition Committee will look at a 12.39 acre site located adjacent to Raintree Park. This .property is jointly owned by Mr. •E.W. The Forestry Division and other staff members are planning to visit Jessie H. Jones Park in North Houston next Wednesday. Any Board member that would like to go should call this office by Tuesday and leave a message for Ric Ploeger. The City van will be used for transportation and the noon meal will be provided. I have enclosed a copy of the Park brochure for your study. The van will leave from Central Park around 8:00 A.M. and return by 5:00 P.M. 4. Several State Championship tournaments are being hosted by College Station during the next few weeks. They are: A. August 2, 3, & 4th Texas Amatuer Athletic Federation Swim Meet @ Adamson Pool, Bee Creek Park. D. August 9, 10, & ll. Amatuer Softball Association Men's Class B @ Central Park. These events will draw approximately 5,000 people into our community during the next four weekends for a very high level of competition. Local teams are entered in all events and should ben i f i t from the chance to compete against Regional Champions from throughout Texas. 5. I have enclosed a copy of the Parks & Recreation Department EXPENDITURES/REVENUES COMPARISON FY 1979 - 1985 for your study. The Al 1984 - 85 figures are projected and have not been audited. Also, the Budget Figures for FY 1985 - 86 are those approved by Council . Historically, the Department 's expenditures are less than the total Budget projection and the actual revenues surpass the forecasted amount.
