HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/23/2016 - Regular Minutes - Parks Board Parks and Recreation Advisory Board REGULAR MEETING MINUTES ~ 6:30PM Central Park Office 1000 Krenek Tap College Station, TX 77840 Staff Present: David Schmitz, Director; Andrea Lauer, Board Secretary Board Present: Marc Chaloupka; Roger Reese; Ann Hayes; Paul Dyson; Keith Roberts; Debe Shafer; Gary Erwin; Visitors: None 1.Call to order and Roll Call. The meeting was called to order with a quorum present at 7 P.M. 2.Possible action concerning requests for absences of members. An absence request was received from Lou Hodges. Gary Erwin made a motion to approve the absence requests and Marc Chaloupka seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously. 3.Hear visitors. Hearing none, this item was closed. 4.Consideration, possible approval, and discussion of minutes from the meeting August 09, 2016. Lou Hodges made a motion to approve the minutes as submitted, and Roger Reese seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously. 5.Possible action concerning requests from two cemetery owners that would like to ask the board for an exception to the monument rules. Mr. Watson with Watson Monument Company discussed what his client was proposing for his monument. Discussion followed, Gary Erwin made a motion to deny the request and Marc Chaloupka seconded the motion. Brazos Valley Monument sent an email with a drawing of what their client wanted, discussion followed and Keith Roberts made a motion to deny the request and Ann Hayes seconded the motion. The votes were called and all were in favor, and the motions passed unanimously. 6.Report by J.D. Wood on Tourism. Informational item only, no action was taken. 7.Report by David Schmitz on Lick Creek and Nature Center activity. Informational item only, no action taken. 8.Parks and Recreation Advisory Board park assignments. The remaining board members that needed to pick agreed to do it by email. 9.Report, possible action, and discussion concerning the current Parks Projects Summary and Dedications of Less than Five Acres from Rusty Warncke. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting. Possible update on Arts Council. 11. Adjourn. Marc Chaloupka made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and Keith Roberts seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor, and the meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M.
