' T'OTOR BUS LINA+: FOR TRANSPORTATION OF PASSENGERS AND PROVIDING- TERES . ND CONDITIONS OP SAID FRANCHISE. BE IT ORDAINJ''D by the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas: 1. There is hereby pra.nted to the Bryan -College Traction Company, a corporation organized and existing under, and by virtue of the laws of the State of Texas, with its nrincinsl office at Bryan, Texas, a franchise for the nurnose of onerating motor bus vehicles for the transportation of persons as passengers for hire within the Oity of College Station with the privil- ege to use the highways end streets of the city for €.foresaid purpose. 2. This franchise is granted for a period of twenty (20) years, subject to the provisions herein. No vehicle operating under this franchise shall transportat any one time a number of passengers in excess of the passen- ger -carrying capacity for that vehicle as listed by the man- ufacturer. 4. No vehicle operating under this franchise shall be operated• by any person unless he has on his person while doin? so a chauffeur's licence issued by the State of Texas, nor shall such person overate any vehicle or vehicles for more than ten (10) hours in any 24 hour period. 5. No vehicle shell be operated under this franchise unless it is in safe mechanical co-dition for use in the transportation of persons over the highways and streets of this city. e. The grantee shellmaintain adequate bus service for the in- habitants of this city, and shall operate its busses ori fixed schddules. 7. The rates charged by the grantee for service shall be reason- able and subject to approval of the grantor. 8. The grantee shall cause its vehicles to .be operated in conform- ity with the ordinances of this city. 9. This franchise shallnot be assignable unless assignee shall agree in writing to Ell the provisions herein contained and unless consent to such assignment is granted by the city. 10. This franchise shall become effective provided it is accepted within 20 days after the date it is granted and upon payment by the grantee of the sum of fifty (0 50.00) dollars, and shall remain in full force upon the payment of a like sum annually thereafter. The aforesaid payments shall be in lieu of all other payments, taxes and fees. 11. This franchise may be revoked by the City Council for the violation of any of its provisions after due -notice and a hearing have been given to the grantee. To certify which witness the official signature of the duly authorized officer and the seal of said corporation on this the day of , 19 President, Bryan -College Traction Company, Bryan, Texas ORDINANCE NO. 37 AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A FRANCHISE TO THE BRYAN -COLLEGE -- TRACTION COMPANY FOR THE OPERATION OF A MOTOR BUS LINE FOR TRANSPORTATION OF PASSENGERS AND PROVIDING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID FRANCHISE. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas: 1. There is hereby granted to the Bryan -College Traction Company, a corporation organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the State of Texas, with its principal office at Bryan, Texas, a franchise for the purpose of operating motor bus vehicles for the transportation of persons as passengers for hire within the City of College Station with the privilege to use the highways and streets of the city for aforesaid purpose. 2. This franchise 'is granted for a period of twenty (20) years, subject to the provisions herein. 3. -No vehicle operating under this franchise shall transport at any one time a number of passengers in excess of the passenger - carrying capacity for that vehicle as listed by the manufacturer. 4. No vehicle operating under this franchise shall be operated by any -person unless he has on his person while doing so a chauffeur's license issued by the State of Texas, nor shall such person operate any vehicle or vehicles for,more than ten (10) hours in any 24 hour period. 5. No vehicle shall be operated under this franchise unless it is in safe mechanical condition for use in the transportation of persons over the highways and streets of this city. 6. The grantee shall maintain adequate bus service for the in- habitants of this city, and shall operate its busses on fixed schedules. 7. The rates charged by the grantee for service shall be reason- able and subject to approval of the grantor. 8. The grantee shall cause its vehicles to be operated in conformity with the ordinances of this city. 9. This franchise shall not be assignable unless assignee shall agree in writing to all the provisions herein, contained and unless consent to such assignment is granted by the city. 10. This franchise shall become effective provided it is accepted within 20 days after the date it is granted and upon payment by the grantee of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars, and shall remain in full force upon the payment of a like suns annually thereafter. The aforesaid payments shall be in lieu of all other payments, taxes and fees. 00052 11.
