HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-0172 - Ordinance - 06/17/1952ORDINANCE NO. 172 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SCHEDULE OF UTILITY RATES; GOVERNING PAY- MENT AYMENT OF BILLS; PROVIDING FOR DISCONNECTIONS AND RECONNECTIONS; AND REPEALING ORDINANCES OR PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas: SECTION 1. Schedule of Rates. The monthly rates to be charged consumers for public utility services -- namely, electricity, water and/or sewerage connections -- shall be in accordance with the schedules as follows: (A) Rates for Electricity For domestic, commercial and/or industrial consumers using electricity within the corporate limits of the city: First 25 KWH . Next 75 KWH . 0 Next 80 KWH . . All over 180 KWH 0 0 0 0 O 0 0 0 0 0 O 0 0 0 0 0 O 0 0 0 0 0 O 0 0 0 0 0 Minimum monthly charge $1.00. (B) Rates for Water per KWH • 3 -0 per KWH 4 ¢ per KWI•I • 20 per KWH • For domestic, commercial and/or industrial consumers using water within the corporate limits of the city: First 1,000 gals. (C) Rates for Sewerage Service: 1. For consumers using sewerage services for household or office within the corporate limits of the city: 1 water closet connection . , , 500 2 water closet connections . . , 75¢ 3 or more water closet connections . , $1.00- 9 2. For consumers using sewerage services for apartments and rooming houses within the corporate limits of the city: 1 water closet connection . . 50¢ - Each additional water closet connection 25¢ • 3. For consumers using sewerage services for commercial and/or industrial business establishments within the corporate limits of the city: First 7,000 gals. or fraction thereof of water used 50¢ Each additional 7,000 gals. or ,fraction thereof or water used • . • • 25¢ Where it can be shown that any considerable part of the water used by commercial and/or industrial consumers does not reach the sewers, the city council may make such adjustments in their rates as shall be deemed just and equitable. SECTION 2. Payment of Bills: (A) All charges due the city from consumers of public utilities services shall be based on bills rendered by the city to the consumer,.. and such bills shall be due and payable not later than the 15th day of the month next succeeding the month during which these services were rendered. (B) Bills which are not paid by the 15th day of the month in which they are due shall be subject to a penalty of ten per cent (10%) of the total utility bill due for that period. SECTION 3. Disconnections and Reconnections: (A) All electric, water and sewerage connections shall be severed for any consumer of public utilities services who fails to pay all or any part of his total bill for such services within 15 days after the same shall be due and payable as provided above. 00430 (B) When connections for public utilities services have been severed the same shall be restored only when all amounts due the city shallhave been paid in full, and an additional fee of $2.00 shall also have been paid to partially cover the expenses of the restoration for any or all services to be reconnected. SECTION 4. Any ordinance or portion thereof in conflict with this Ordinance is hereby repealed, and the provisions of this Ordinance in case of conflict shall govern. If any portion of this Ordinance shall be declared invalid, such declaration shall not affect the other portions thereof. Passed, approved and ordered published this the 17th day of June, A. D. 1952.
