HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-0157 - Ordinance - 04/12/1951X13 ORDINANCE NO. 157 AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJOINING THE LIrMMITS OF THE CITY INTO AND INCORPORATING THE SAME AS A PART OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS. 1. Inasmuch as the majority of the qualified voters residing in a certain territory adjoining the limits of the City have voted in favor of becoming a part of the City and inasmuch further as three of them have submitted an affidavit to that fact, now be it ordained by the City Council of the City of College Station that said certain territory shall be and the same is hereby received into and incorporated as a part of the City of College Station, Texas, said certain territory being more particularly described as follows, towit: Beginning at the most westerly corner of Lot No. 8, Block No. 1 of the Cooner addition to the city limits .of College Station, Texas. Thence North 45° East along the Northwest line of the said Cooner Addition and along an extension of the said Northwest line of the Cooner Addition, a distance of ap)roximately 2,252 feet to the intersection with the Northeast side of University Drive extended. Thence South 450 East along the Northeast side of University Drive, an extension thereof, a distance of approximately 2,416 feet to the most Northeasterly corner of the present city limits This corner also being located North 45D West 300 feet from the Southeast .side of Lincoln Avenue. Thence along the present city limits to the point of beginning. 2. The fact that the inhabitants of aforesaid described territory are without benefits of municipal government creates an emergency and an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and the rule requiring that an ordinance shall be read at two successive meetings before passage is hereby suspended. and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately from and after it has been passed and approved.
