HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-0413 - Ordinance - 07/06/1964BOORUM & PEASE BOORUM & PEASE ORDINANCE NO. 413 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE GIVING OF NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE RIGHTS-OF-WAY TIME WARRANTS OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS; AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FORCE FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE. THE STATE OF TEXAS I COUNTY OF BRAZOS The City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, convened in special session at the City Hall within said City on the 6th day of July, 1964, with the following members present, to -wit: Ernest Langford Mayor J, A. Orr Councilman T, R. Holleman Councilman Robert R. Rhodes Councilman O, M. Holt Councilman A„ L. Rosprim Councilman A, P. Boyett Councilman K, A. Manning City Secretary and the following member(s) absent, to -wit: none, when among other business had, the following was transacted: The Mayor introduced an ordinance which was read in full, Councilman Orr made a motion that the ordinance be adopted as read, Councilman Rosprim seconded the motion for adoption of the ordinance. The motion,carrying with it the adoption of the ordinance, prevailed by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Orr, Holleman, Rhodes, Holt, Rosprim, and Boyett, and Mayor Langford. NOES: None, The mayor thereupon announced that the motion had duly and lawfully carried, and that the ordinance had been duly and lawfully adopted. The ordinance thus adopted follows: AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE GIVING OF NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE RIGHTS-OF-WAY TIME WARRANTS OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS; AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FORCE • FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE. WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable for the City of College Station, Texas, to purchase and acquire rights-of-way for the public streets within 00992 BOORUM EC PEASE "u o—,TE--,,. e" U) w said City, and to employ professional services to be rendered in connection therewith and other incidental expenses in connection therewith; and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City has determined and hereby affirmatively determines, that time warrants of the City should be issued for the purpose of evidencing the indebtedness of said City for all or any part of the cost of purchasing and acquiring said rights-of-way, including professional services to be rendered in connection therewith and other incidental expenses in connection therewith; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to proceed with the authorization of the publication of its notice of intention to issue said time warrants; Therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION: Section 1. That the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause to be published for the time and in the manner required by law, the following notice, to -wit: NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE TIME WARRANTS TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, WHOSE NAMES APPEAR ON THE LAST APPROVED TAX ROLLS OF PROPERTY TAXPAYERS OF SAID CITY, AND TO ALL OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is the intention of the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, to authorize the issuance of time warrants of said City in the maximum sum of $100,000 maturing serially over a period of years not to exceed twenty (20) years from their date, with a maximum maturity date of February 1, 1984, and bearing interest at a rate not to exceed five per cent (5%) per annum, for the purpose of evidencing the indebtedness of said City for all or any part of the cost of purchasing and acquiring rights-of-way for the public streets within said City, including profession]services to be rendered in connection therewith and other incidental expenses in connection therewith, It is the intention of said City Council to adopt the ordinance authorizing the issuance of such time warrants at its regular meeting to be held on the 27th day of July, 1964, at 7:00 o'clock p.m, at the City Hall of said City in the City of College Station, Texas. BY ORDER OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, S/K.A., Manning City Secretary, City of College Station, Texas 00393 BOORUM & PEASE BOORUM & PEASE Section 2. That the Notice set forth in Section 1 of this ordinance shall be published in The Battalion once a week for two consecutive weeks prior to July 27, 1964, the date of the first publication to be at least fourteen (14) days prior to July 27, 1964. It is hereby found and declared that The Battalion is a newspaper published in the City of College Station, Texas, is of general circulation within said City, and is the official newspaper of said City. Section 3, That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 6th day of July, 1964.
