ORDINANCE NO. 283
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO SPEED ZONES WHICH SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATES ADDITIONAL
AREAS IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OF THIRTY (30)
MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED, RESCINDING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH, AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of College Station,
Texas:
Section I. That any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances relating
to speed zones on State Highways within the City of College Station, are here-
by rescinded, and the following are additional specifically designated areas
in which a rate of speed of thirty (30) miles per hour or more is authorized:
(a) State Highway 308, for traffic moving in a northerly direction;
for the first 0.11 mile, from the junction with Farm -to -Market
Road 60, the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour;
for the next 0.28 mile, to the North City Limit, the speed limit
shall be fifty (50) miles per hour.
For traffic moving in a southerly direction; for the first 0.24
mile, from the North City Limit, the speed limit shall be fifty
(50) miles per hour; for the next 0.15 mile, to the junction with
Farm -to -Market Road 60, the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles
per hour.
(b) Farm -to -Market Road 60; for traffic moving in both directions,
for the first 0.75 mile, from the junction with State Highway 6,
the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour; for the next
0.49 mile the speed limit shall be thirty (30) miles per hour;
for the next 0.28 mile to the West City Limit, the speed limit
shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour.
(c) Farm -to -Market Road 2154; for traffic moving in a southerly di-
rection; for the first 0.5 mile, from the junction with Farm -to -
Market Road 60, the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per
hour; for the next 0.5 mile the speed limit shall be forty-five
(45) miles per hour; for the next 0.88 mile, to the South City
Limit, the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour.
For traffic moving in a northerly direction; for the first 0.45
mile, from the South City Limit, the speed limit shall be fifty
(50) miles per hour; for the next 0.93 mile, the speed limit
shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour; for the next 0.5 mile,
to the junction with Farm -to -Market Road 60, the speed limit
shall be forty (40) miles per hour.

Section II. WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the
public necessitates immediate action, this Ordinance shall be effective from
and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of
College Station:
