HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-0592 - Ordinance - 08/26/1968ORDINANCE NO. 592 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO SPEED ZONES WHICH SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATES ADDITIONAL AREAS IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OR THIRTY (30) MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED; RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION: SECTION I. That any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances relating to speed zones on Farm to Market Road 2347 in the City of College Station are hereby rescinded, and the following are additional specifically designated areas in which a rate of speed of thirty (30) miles per hour or more is authorized. (a) Farm to Market Road 2347, for traffic moving in a southwesterly direction for the first 1. 337 miles from the intersection with State Highway 6, the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour. Within the limits of said forty (40) mile per hour speed zone, from a point approximately 100 feet west of Timber Street to a point approximately 200 feet east of Holick Street, the speed limit shall be twenty-five (25) miles per hour when so signed for school crossing. For the next 0.200 mile the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 0.800 mile the speed limit shall be sixty (60) miles per hour. For the next 0. 527 mile, to Easterwood Airport, the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For traffic moving in a northeasterly direction for the first 0.350 mile, from Easterwood Airport, the speed limit shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour. For the next 0. 977 mile the speed limit shall be sixty (60) miles per hour. For the next 0. 200 mile the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 1. 337 miles, to the intersection with State Highway 6, the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour. WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the public necessitates immediate action, this Ordinance shall be effective from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of College Station.
