HomeMy WebLinkAbout8-13-98-5-i - Resolution - 08/13/1998q sotution NDlqBER: 8-13-98-5-i A RESOLUTION FR()M FIlE CITY COUNCIl, OF COLLEGE STA]'ION, TEXAS, TO THE STATE OF TEXAS REQUESTING A PORTION OF STATE HIGIIWAY 6 BE REMOVED FROM THE STATE HIGIfWAY SYSTEM AND PLACED [hNDER THE JURISDICTION ~ND MAINTENANCE OF THE CITY OF COLI,EGE STATION, TEXAS. WHEREAS, an overpass at the location of Raintree Drive and Southwest Parkway was built by the Texas Department of Transportation to help facilitate travel in regards to State Highway 6; and WHEREAS, a portion of State Ifighway 6 right of way, described on Exhibit "A" attached hereto, was needed to build this overpass and is still needed by the citizens for public road purposes; and WIfEREAS, the City Council of College Station, Texas desires to assume the maintenance and jurisdiction of said portion of SH 6 at the intersection of Southwest Parkway / Raintree Drive and State [lighway 6 and shall assume all costs, responsibilities and liabilities related thereto. NOW, THEREFORE, IS [T RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF COI.I.EG'E STATION, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Council of College Station, Texas requests the Texas Department of Transportation remove said portion of State Highway 6 as describedon Exh'b't A attached hereto from the State Highway System; Section 2. That the City Council of College Station, Texas shall assume jurisdiction and maintenance of said portion of State Highway 6 after said portion is removed from the State Highway System and shall assume ail costs, responsibilities and liabilities related thereto.
