Early on, my dad launched a campaign to get all of us kids to actually start reading the paper. That began my life-long interest in everything about the newspaper: the paper, the ink, the type, and the pictures. Seeing my name in print for the first time was a huge thrill. I believe it was an article about the Little Sprouts Garden Club of which I was a proud member. I remember Mrs. Richard Ballinger telling me that a woman’s name appears in print only twice in her lifetime: when she marries and when she dies. Thank goodness there has been some progress in the last few decades. Robert Borden will have lots to say on this topic. Hope to see you there! “Brazos County Media – Not just a one newspaper town” Robert Borden, Opinions Editor, The Eagle Wednesday, July 20, 2011 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. College Station Conference Center 1300 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas $5/pp, payable at the door with RSVP RSVP by Monday, July 13 aboykin@cstx.gov or 979.764.3491 Anne Boykin
