Members Present: Patricia Boughton, E.E. Burns, Joyce Davis, Rick Heaney, Dorothy
Hernandez, Laura Holmes, Edgar Jones, Robert Meyer, Neal Nutall, Donald Pirwitz,
Raymond Reed, Colleen Risinger, Yvonne Stevens, Doreen Todd and Joanna Yeager
Members Absent: Jack Hernandez and Haskell Monroe
Staff Present: Peter Lamont, Recreation Superintendent and Marci Rodgers, Senior
Services Coordinator
I• Call to order The meeting was called to order at 10:01 by Robert Meyer,
Chairman
II. Hear visitors No visitors
III. Approval of minutes from regular meeting on July 31, 2006 Rick Heaney made
the motion to approve the minutes. Ray Reed seconded the motion. The motion
passed.
IV. Presentation, possible action and discussion with Brown Reynolds Watford
Architects on Senior Center Project Tom Parker and Jennifer Bettiol with BRW
were introduced to the committee. Mr. Parker explained the public meeting
process that will be used to gather information from citizens interested in the Senior
Center Project. The first meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday, August 30th at
10:00am at the College Station Conference Center. The architects will make a
formal presentation to the group as a whole lasting approximately 30 -35 minutes.
During that presentation they will be explaining what they are going to do. They
will then ask the participants to break into small groups. Each small group will
have a facilitator and scribe. They will address four areas: programs, aquatics,
food service and health care. The second meeting is scheduled for Wednesday,
September 13th at 7:00pm at the College Station Middle School. The architects will
take the information gathered from the first meeting and develop a program. They
will present that to the citizens and conduct a Charette by asking questions of the
participants that will lead through the schematic design of each space in the
building. The third meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th at 10:00am
at Lincoln Center will show off a plan and get feedback from the citizens. The
architects will be working with staff on the property site and location of facility and
develop a site plan. A small group presentation is planned at Washington Chapel
on Thursday, August 31st at 7:00pm.
V. Discussion, consideration and possible action on reports from Senior Center
Project Sub-Committee, Promotion of Senior Activities Sub-Committee and
Programs Sub-Committee

VI. Discussion, consideration and possible action of Senior Services Coordinator
report regarding upcoming programs and events. Marci Rodgers reported on
upcoming events and programs (report on file)
