Recommendation(s): Staff recommends approval. Summary: This amendment addresses concerns expressed by the development community regarding current requirements for Public Improvement Permits (PIP). This amendment would exempt landscaping and irrigation from the indemnity agreement requirement, to encourage private landscaping and related irrigation for the general beautification of the City, at relatively minimal risk to the City. A PIP permit allows a private property owner to place private elements in public rights-of- way for such general uses as landscaping, sidewalk cafes, neighborhood entrances, historical signage, pedestrian improvements, or vehicular transportation elements. Specific improvements may include trees, irrigation, signs, benches, awnings, or other elements. Budget & Financial Summary: N/A Attachments: 1. Ordinance Amendment
