Any chance you can come up with comparable figures to what City of Bryan released today? Eagle newsroom is trying to
get an apples -to -apples comparison. Any chance at all??
Thanks in advance for any rabbits you can pull out of your hat. O

Economy
Commercial and residential developments are on t* rise in Bryan, providing a strong economy for the city. In
2014, the city has issued 24 commercial constrOlon permits, more than double the number issued in the same
time period last year.
"Bryan is gaining more attention as a business—friendly community within Texas," said Kevin Russell, Bryan
Economic Development Director. "We've been attracting large and small companies as commercial
construction permits have included hotels, retail, industrial, and health care."
Residential home construction permits in the city limits are accelerating, largely due to a builder's incentive
program launched in March. In the first six weeks of the program, the city issued 15 new permits for homes in
the 2,200 -to -3,000 square foot range, which is more than half the total residential permits issued for all of 2013.
"The builder incentive program has positively impacted the housing segment we are targeting," said Kean
Register, Bryan City Manager. "We are seeing increases in both residential and commercial construction in
Bryan, and several new subdivisions are in the final stage planning. Additionally, the average price for new
single-family homes in Bryan is $219,000 which is among the highest of all cities in the Brazos Valley. New
home lots sales have tripled in some areas of the city and we continue to see increases in the number of move-
up homes in the 2,200 — 3,000 square foot range as well as the larger homes on the very high-end scale. As
more residents are moving to Bryan, more businesses are also looking to expand to the area."
The inflow of new residents and new businesses has another positive impact on the local economy. Bryan's
May sales tax (collected in July) was $1,449,275. That is $167,878 or 13.1 percent above budget for the month
and an increase of $125,762 or 9.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date collections total
$1,265,830, or 12.41 percent above budget.
In addition to the sales tax, the Hotel Occupancy Tax also increased. Hotel Occupancy Tax collections for May
total $106,355. This is an increase of $38,460 or 56.65 percent compared to the same period last year. Year-to-
date collections are $233,118 or 49.09 percent above budget.
"Tourism in the area continues to be a growing economic tool for the City," said Hugh Walker, Bryan Deputy
City Manager. "As the City works with the Convention and Visitors Bureau to attract tournaments to the area,
tourism should only increase. We believe attracting tournaments and other larger sporting events to the
community is a way the City can actively encourage visitors to Bryan. Consequently, visitors spend money in
local hotels, restaurants, and businesses, which is good for the local economy."

Hi Emily,
I got your voice message, and I re ran the report to include the remainder of August. There were not any additional
commercial permits pulled similar to the ones on the previous report. Let me know if you have any questions.
