This is not a comprehensive system analysis and only accounts for newly contributing flows due to the development of the subject property . ./ This study is being conducted at the request of the City of College Station, Engineering Department as the result of a comment presented at the pre-development review of the Joe's Crab Shack proposed site. The subject tract consists of approximately 2 .5 acres of undeveloped land . Current development plans include a restaurant with seating for 268 patrons with associated parking and driveways (see Appendix 1 "General Location Map" for plat with site layout). Other sanitary sewer studies and analysis that have been conducted within the project .............- specific area include : 1. Peaking Factor: 4.5 gallons I min / 268 seats x .024 x 4 .5 = 29 gpm v seat EXISTING SYSTEM ACCEPTABILITY : (gpm/seat 0.1 A flow meter was set in manhole M017 during the time period between 07/23/98 through 07 /28/98 to measure depth and velocities and compute a flow rate of the existing sanitary sewer flow. Upon review of the data, no correlation between depth, velocity or flow ... ~ rate could be made. (jl)J'D ~~ The limiting line in the sanitary sewer system bei analyzed is line M . As · 1. documented in the sanitary sewer analysis for Hento & Two Lincoln Place su ons, i ~ reference 1 above , the existing slope on line MO -M017 is 0.43%. City of College Station ~--I design capacity for sanitary sewer lines is 80% the full flow capacity . Using Manning's Equation, a capacity for the 8" line M012-M017 as computed to be 347 gpm . (The following assumptions were used in the computation : 1) y/D=0.8, where y ~depth of flow and D is line 0 diameter) / -A, ""' 2) Manning's N = 0.013 V ~. ~ · ~a..~ CONTRIBUTING FLOW CONSIDERATIONS : Comparative Check: According to information provided by the City of College Station, Engineering Department, the existing 8" line between manholes M018 and 024 has a full flow capacity of 345.6 gpm with remaining capacity of 197.47 gpm (refer to Table 2 of reference 2 above). Calculation of how much contributing flow assigned to the portion of the 8" line M012-M017 is as follows . Existing flow in line M018-M024 : 345.6 gpm -197 .5 gpm = 148 .1 gpm (-) Existing flow in line M030A-M018: = 20 .0 gpm Existing flow in line M012-M017 : = 128.1 gpm Page2 Additional Contributing Flow: The current contributing source for the existing sanitary sewer flows in line M012- M017 is the residential areas adjacent to and southeast of Lincoln drive. Additional flow from the 81 room Quality Suites motel development that has recently come on-line and the proposed Wheeler Subdivision Phase II development as documented in the subdivision impact study, reference 2, above will need to be considered in the system analysis. The following table summarizes flows and capacity in line M012-M017 . Remaining capacity in the limiting 8" line M017-M018 would be 48 .6 gpm. Should the Wheeler Phase II subdivision develop under more intense conditions than assumed in the impact study for that tract, the existing 8" line may need revitalization . This line should be analyzed for each upstream development that would require additional sanitary sewer capacity . This is not a comprehens ive system analysis and only accounts for newly contributing flows due to the development of the subject property . This study is being conducted at the request of the City of College Station , Engineering Department as the result of a comment presented at the pre-development review of the Joe 's Crab Shack proposed site . The subject tract consists of approximately 2.5 acres of undeveloped land . Current development plans include a restaurant w ith seating for 268 patrons w ith associated parking and driveways (see Appendix 1 "General Location Map " for plat with site layout). City of College Station Deve lopment Impacts on the Wastewater System Along University Drive , Camp Dresser & McKee , March 05 , 1998. PROPOSED CONDITIONS SANITARY SEWER LINE ANALYSIS: A proposed 8" sanitary sewer line w i ll begin at the southwest corner of the subject tract and be brought to the existing City manhole designated M004 on City of College Station wastewater map sheet 033B1 (refer to Appendix 2 for map of existing sanitary sewer system). The sanitary sewer line extending from manhole M004 is an 8" line wh ich continues through manhole MOO? located north of University Drive (MOO? on City of College Station wastewater map sheet 032B2. As documented in the Development Agreement that exists between W . Dow Hamm Corporation and the City of College Station , this 8" line will be upgraded to a 12" line from manhole M018 on City of College Station wastewater map sheet 033B1 through MOO?. System acceptability will therefore focus on the portion of the 811 line from M004 through M018 south of University Drive . Peaking Factor: 4 .5 gallons I min 268 seats x .024 x 4 .5 = 29 gpm seat EXISTING SYSTEM ACCEPTABILITY : 157.5 0.1 A flow meter was set in manhole M017 during the time period between 07/23/98 through 07 /28/98 to measure depth and velocities and compute a flow rate of the existing sanitary sewer flow. Upon review of the data , no correlation between depth, velocity or flow rate could be made . CONTRIBUTING FLOW CONSIDERATIONS : Comparative Check : According to information provided by the City of College Station, Engineering Department , the existing 8" line between manholes M018 and M024, on City of College Station wastewater map sheet 033B1 , has a full flow capacity of 345 .6 gpm with remaining capacity of 197.47 gpm (refer to Table 2 of reference 2 above). Calculation of how much contributing flow assigned to the portion of the 8" line M012-M017 is as follows . Existing flow in line M018-M024: 345.6 gpm -197 .5 gpm = 148 .1 gpm (-) Existing flow in line M030A-M018 : = 20 .0 gpm Existing flow in line M012-M017 : = 128 .1 gpm Additional Contributing Flow: The current contributing source for the existing sanitary sewer flows in line M012- M017 (C.O.C.S. wastewater map sheet 033B1) is the residential areas adjacent to and southeast of Lincoln drive . Additional flow from the 81 room Quality Suites motel development that has recently come on-line and the proposed Wheeler Subdivision Phase II Page 2 development as documented in the subdivision impact study, reference 2 , above will need to be considered in the system analysis . · Two line segments were analyzed to determine which section would be the limiting line segment in the existing sanitary sewer system . The segment with the minimum slope leaves manhole M003 (C.O.C .S. wastewater map sheet 03381) on a 0 .33% slope as documented in the sanitary sewer analysis for Henton & Two Lincoln Place subdivisions , reference 1 above . City of College Station design capacity for sanitary sewer lines is 80% of the full flow capacity . Using Manning's Equation, a capacity for the 8" line exiting 03381-M003 was computed to be 304 .5 gpm . (The following assumptions were used in the computation : 1) y/D=0 .8, where y is depth of flow and Dis line diameter) 2) Manning 's N = 0.013 The second segment analyzed was line M012-M017 on City of College Station wastewater map sheet 03381. This segment was analyzed due to the abovementioned additional sources downstream of M003 that contribute to the sanitary sewer flow. As documented in the sanitary sewer analysis for Henton & Two Lincoln Place subdivisions , reference 1 above , the existing slope on line M012-M017 is 0.43%. Using Manning 's Equation and the same design assumptions given above , a capacity for the 8" line M012-M017 was computed to be 347 gpm. The following table summarizes flows and capacities in the two line segments. CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS: It is shown using accepted design principles that the proposed Joe's Crab Shack restaurant can be provided sanitary sewer service via the existing 8" sanitary sewer line that extends from manhole M004 -M018 under present development conditions. Remaining capacity in the limiting 8" line M017-M018 would be 48 .6 gpm . Should the Wheeler Phase II subdivision develop under more intense conditions than assumed in the impact study for that tract, the existing 8" line may need revitalization . This line should be analyzed for each upstream development that would require additional sanitary sewer capacity.
