Otto E. Wiederhold, P.E .
Jol'in F. Winkler, P.E .
We have prepared an analysis of the existing drainage sys tem on the so uthern border of Phase
7 A, adjacent to future Phase 7C . In thi s analysis cross-sections were taken at the end of the cul-
de-sacs at Bellerive Bend, Laurel Valley Court, Ganton Court, and Spanish Bay Court . The
existing channel cross section was used with the appropriate 100-year di sc harge from the
drainage basi n and the 100-year discharge from the storm sewer sys tem . The output is provided
for each cross sec tion with the water surface elevations s hown . It was determined that the water
surface elevations would not cause a problem with flooding of the proposed lot s and the I 00 year
water surface e levation will be contained within a drainage easement. Therefore, an improved
channel is not recommended in this location .

DRAINAGE AREA "B lA":
100-YEAR DRAINAGE ANALYSIS OF
PEBBLE CREEK PHASE 7 A
On the drainage map, drainage area "B la" is outlined and divided into 6 sub-drainage areas.
• Sub-drainage Area "B 1 a5":
Thi s sub -area is approximately 1.55 acres and li es on the north we st side of Bellerive Bend Drive
from STA. 0+00 to STA. 3+46.44. The street ha s a grade of 0.4 %. The flow for the 100-year storm
is calculated to be 9 .11 cfs , and the water depth in the gutter is 0.48 -feet. At the end of the basin a
10-foot " on-grade " inlet (1-B 1 a5) and an 18-inch RCP (B la-2) storm sewer are propo se d to convey
the storm water downstream. The inlet and 18-inch RCP have a capacity of 6 .64 cfs. The refore, 2.45
cfs is bypasse d down stream into the next bas in (B la4).
• Sub-drainage Area "B la4":
Thi s sub-area is approximately 1.5 acre s and is located on the north west s ide of Bellerive Be nd Drive
from STA. 3+46.44 to STA . 6+40 .94. The street grade is 0.4 %. The flow for the 100-year storm and
the water depth in the gutter are calculated to be 11.28 cfs and 0.47-feet respectively (including
bypa ss from basi n Bla5). A 10-foot "o n-grade" inlet (l-Bla4) and a 24-inch RCP (Bla-2) storm
sewer are propo se d for thi s sub-basin. The inlet and the 24-inch RCP have a capacity of 14.48 cfs.
Therefore , all of the runoff is carried by th e inlet and pipe .
• Sub-drainage Area "B la3 ":
Thi s sub-area is approximately 1.5 acre s on the so uth we st side of Belle rive Bend Drive with 0 .6 %
s lope from STA. 6+40 .94 to STA. 10+72.15 . The flow for the 100-year storm and the water depth in
the gutter are 9 .56 cfs and 0 .44 -feet respectively. A 10-foot "s ump" inlet (l-Bla2) and a 36-inch pipe
(B la-3) are propose d at the end of the basin to carry thi s amount of runoff into a propo sed channel.
The inlet and pipe have a capacity of 20.78 cfs, therefore all the runoff is carried into the channel.
• Sub-drainage Area "B 1 a2":
Thi s sub-area is approximately 0.58 acres and lie s on the east end of Bellerive Bend Drive with 0 .6 %
slope from STA. 10+72.15 to STA. 14+18.40. The flow for the 100-year storm is calculated to be
3.63 cfs and the water depth in th e gutter is 0.3-feet. At ST A. 1O+72.15 a 10-foot "sump " inlet (1-
B la2) and a 36-inch pipe (B la-3) with a capaci ty of 20.78 cfs are placed to convey the runoff into a
propo sed channe l.
• Sub-drainage Area "B lal ": ,
Thi s sub-area is approximately 1.2 0 acres on the north side of Bellerive Bend Drive with 0.4 % slope
from ST A . 4+ 17 .29 to ST A. 8+80.61. The 100-year storm flow is 7 .80 cfs and the wat er height in th e
street gutter is 0.45-feet. A 5-foot "on-grade" inlet (1-Blal) and an 18-inch RCP (Bla-1) are
propo sed to convey the storm water down stream. The inlet and the 18-inch RCP have a capacity of
7.43 cfs. Therefore , 0 .3 7 cfs is bypassed into bas in BlaO .
• Sub-drainage Area "B laO ":
Thi s sub-area is approximately 1.37 acres and is located on the east sid e of Bellerive Be nd Drive with
0.6 % slope from STA. 8+80.61 to STA. 14+18.40. The 100-year storm flow i s 9.38 cfs (in cluding
bypass from ba sin Bl al ) and the water height in the street gutter is 0.43-feet. A 10-foot "s ump " inlet
(1-BlaO) and an 18-inch RCP (Bla-3) are propose d to capture thi s amount of runoff. A 36-inch RCP
(B 1 a-3) is proposed and placed at ST A. 10+ 72.15. Thi s storm sewer is de signed to carry all th e
runoff in basin "B la" to a proposed channel. The total flow for the 100-year storm for this bas in at
that point is 48 .13 cfs. The 36-inch RCP propo se d storm sewer ha s a capacity of 45.72 cfs, therefore,
2.41 cfs of th e flow will be carried by the swell de signed above the 36-inch RCP pipe . This swell is
de signed for the 100 -year storm , and has a width of 20-foot, with a side s lope s of 8: 1. The proposed
channel ha s a capacity of 167.4 cfs and a velocity of 5.93 ft/sec.
DRAINAGE AREA "B 1 b"
Drainage area "B 1 b" is outlined on the drainage map a nd consists of three su b-areas.
• Sub-drainage Area "B 1 b 3":
Thi s area is approximately 0 .93 acre s and is located on Laurel Valley Court from STA. O+ 50 to STA.
2+80.47. The street has a grade of 0.4 %. The flow for th e 100-year storm is calculated to be 5.58 cfs
and th e water depth in the gutter is 0.4-feet. At STA.2+80.47a 10-foot "on-grade" inlet (I-Blb3) and
an 18-inch RCP (Blb-1) storm sewer are propo sed to convey the storm water down stream. The inl et
and 18-inch RCP have a capacity of 7.43 cfs therefore, the inlet and pip e will carry all the storm water
and there will be no-bypass into the next sub-area.
• Sub-Areas "B 1b1 " and "B 1 b2 " have an area of 0.45 and 0.92 acres respectively. These sub-areas are
lo cated at the so uth end of Laurel Valley Court. The runoff in the se two areas is collected at th e end
of th e street in a 10-foot "sump " inlet (I-B 1b1 ). The flow for the 100-year storm in the se two areas is
8.43 cfs and th e water depth in the gutter is 0.46-feet. All the storm water in thi s sub-area is carried
in an 18-inch RCP (B lb-1) with a capacity of 17 .2 9 cfs int o a propo sed c hann e l. The desc ription of
the channe l was g iven in sub-area B laO. Although the propose d inl e t an d storm sewer have adequate
capacity to carry the storm water into the proposed channel, a swell is de signed in case th e inlet gets
clogged up . The s well is de signed exactly like the swell in Sub-drainage area "B la".
DRAINAGE AREA "Bl c"
Drainage area "B le" is defined on the drainage map . Thi s drainage area consists of only one sub-area
"B 1c1 ".
• Sub-Drainage Area "Blcl ":
This area is approximately 1.17 acres and is located on th e so uth side of Ganton Street from
STA.0+85.49 to STA. 2+69.19. The street ha s a grade of 1.9 %. The flow for the 100-year storm is
calculated to be 7 .90 cfs , and the water depth in the gutter is 0.34-feet. At the e nd of th e ba si n a 5-
foot "sump" inlet (I-B lcl ) and an 18-inch RCP (B lc-1 ) storm sewer is propo sed to carry th e storm
water down stream into a proposed channel (as de sc rib e d in previou s sec tions). The inl et a nd 18-inch
RCP have a capacity of 14.85 cfs, which is adequate to carry the storm water. Although the propo sed
inlet and storm sewer have adequate capacity to carry th e storm water into the propose d channel, a
swell is de signed in case the inlet gets clogged up .
. . ~
DRAINAGE AREA "B Id"
Drainage area "B Id" is defined on the drainage map and is divided into 6 sub-areas .
• Sub-drainage Area "B ld6":
This area is approximately 1.06 acres and lies on the east side of Medinah Drive from STA. 7+55.40
to STA. 10+82.25, and the north end of Ganton Street from STA.0+00 to STA. 0+85.49. The street
has a grade of 0.6 %. The 100-year flow is 7.55 cfs and the water depth in the gutter is 0.4-feet. At
the end of the sub-area a 5-foot "on-grade" inlet (I-B ld6) with a capacity of 5.29 cfs is placed.
Therefore, 2 .27 cfs is bypassed into sub-area "Bld5". An 18-inch RCP (Bid-I) is proposed to carry
the water to inlet I-B ld4 in sub-area B ld4.
• Sub-Drainage Area "Bld5":
This area is approximately 0.39 acres and is located on the east side of Medinah Drive from
STA.10+82.25 to STA. 13+7.29 with a street grade of 0.6 %. The 100-year storm is 5.27 cfs
(including bypass from Bld6) and the water depth in the gutter is 0.35-feet. At STA. 13+7.29 a
5-foot "on-grade" inlet (I-B ld5) with a capacity of 4.48 cfs is placed. Therefore , 0 .79 cfs is bypas ses
into sub-area B ld2 . An 18-inch RCP (B ld-3) is proposed to carry the storm water from this inlet to a
proposed 30-inch RCP (B ld-3).
• Sub-Drainage Area "B 1 d4":
This area is approximately 0 .81 acres and lies on the east side of Medinah Drive from STA.7+55.4 to
STA . 10+82 .25.The street has a grade of 0 .67 %. The flow for the 100-year storm i s 5 .37 cfs and the
water depth in gutter is 0.35-feet. At ST A.10+82.25 a 5-foot "on-grade" inlet (I-B 1 d4) is placed ,
with a capacity of 4.48 cfs . An 18-inch RCP (Bld-2) is placed at the inlet and will carry the water
from sub-areas Bld6 and Bld4. The 100-year flow for both areas Bld6 and Bld4 combined is 13 .32
cfs, this flow is carried to the 18-inch RCP placed at inlet I-Bld4. The pipe has a capacity of 8 .60 cfs
therefore , 5 .61 cfs is bypassed into sub-area Bld3.
• Sub-Drainage Area "B ld3":
Thi s area is approximately 1.11 acres and lies on the north west side of Medinah Drive from STA.
10+82.25 to STA. 13+45.52 and on the south east end of Spanish Bay Ct. from STA. 2+62.41 to
STA. 3+75 .28 . Spanish Bay has a grade of 1.35 % and Medinah Drive has a grade of 0 .67 %. The
flow for the 100-year storm is 13.94 cfs (including the bypasses from sub-areas B ld6 and B ld4) and
the water depth in the gutter is 0.37-feet. At STA .13+5 .73 on Medinah Drive, a 5-foot "on-grade"
inlet (I-B ld3) and a 30-inch RCP (B ld-3), with a capacity of 10 .39 cfs are placed to convey the storm
water down stream. Therefore, 3 .55 cfs of the flow is bypassed into sub-area B ld2.
• Sub-Drainage Areas "Bld2" and "Bldl" have an area of 1.01and0.46 acres re spectively . These sub-
areas are located the south side of Spanish Bay Court. The flow for the 100-year storm in these two
areas is 16.84 cfs and the water depth in the gutter is 0.48-feet The runoff in the se two areas is
collected at the end of Spanish Bay Ct. in a 10-foot "sump " inlet (I-B ldl). A 30-inch RCP (B ld-3 ) is
proposed to convey the storm water into a proposed channel as discus sed earlier . The inlet and the
storm sewer have a capacity of 23 .13 cfs , therefore the inlet and pipe have adequate capacity to carry
the storm water. Although the proposed inlet and lf/ir.rn :s(N.ler have adequate capacity to carry the
storm water into the proposed channel, a swell is design · . · let gets clogged up .
