Kling, P .E., R.P.L.S . S.M. Kling, R.P.L.S . September 22 , l 997 MEMO : TO : Veronica Morgan, P .E. Assistant City Engineer, City of College Station FROM: Fred Paine~ RE : Greensworld Phase 3 Waterline 8" line size justification Greensworld Phase 3 (zoned C-1) has a planned development of a used car lot. The facility is not expected to be as large as the neighboring Nissan new car lot but for analysis purposes, maximum peak water demand will be considered the same (49 gpm per 1994 impact analysis Greensworld Phase 2). Accompanying this memo is the output from a KY-PIPE analysis demonstrating the performance of an 8" line across Greensworld Phase 3 . Three runs were conducted which are as follows : 1) Peak flow (phase 2 & 3) 2) Peak flow (phase 2) +Fire flow (phase 3) 3) Fire flow (phase 2 & 3 ·all interior hydrants) As shown in the output data, maximum velocities do not exceed 13 feet/sec . Minimum pressure occurs under scenario 3 and is 82 .8 psi at the hydrant node for phase 3 . The 8" line proves to be adequate for the development of the phase 3 commercial tract. 09 /24/97 13:08 '5'409 846 8252 KLING E GR * * * * * * * * * * K Y P I P E 2 * * * * * * * * * * • University of Kentucky Hydraulic Analysis Program * * Distribution of Pressure and Flowa in Piping Networks • * <<< FOR SEMINAR PURPOSES ONLY >>> * • * • * • * * * * * * * * * * • • • * * * * * * * • * * * DATE: 9/22/1997 TIME: 16:40:46 INPUT DATA FILENAME ---··········· GWPH3WL.DAT TABULATED OUTPUT FILENAME --------GWPH3WL.OUT POSTPROCESSOR RESULTS FILENAME ---GWPH3WL.RES ***********************••······················· S U M M A R Y 0 F 0 R I G I N A L D A T A **************•••······························· U N I T S S P E C I F I E 0 FLOWRATE •.•••••••••• = ;allons/minute HEAD CHGL) •••••••••• •feet PRESSURE •••••••••••• • psig P l P E L I N E D A T A STATUS CIX>E: XX ·CLOSED PIPE CV -CHECK VALVE FG -FIXED GRADE NOOE RV ·REGULATING VALVE PU -PUMP LINE PIPE NUMBER 1-FG 2 3 4 5 6 NODE NOS. #1 #2 0 , 1 2 2 4 , 3 2 5 5 6 J U N C T I 0 N N 0 D E JUNCTION JUNCTION NUMBER TITLE LENGTH (ft) 1175.0 216.0 152.0 154.0 493.0 100.0 D A T A EXTERNAL DEMAND C;pm> DIAMETER (in) ROUGHNESS MINOR LOSS COEFF.
