DRAINAGE LETTER
FOR
SOUTHWOOD VALLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
SITE IMPROVEMENTS
JUNE 3, 1997
ATTACHMEN T TO DEVELOPMEN T PERMIT AP PLICATION
The proposed improvements to Southwood Valley Elementary School do not negatively affect
the existing drainage pattern or volume of the site . Rather, surface runoff will actually be less
once the grading, landscaping and other proposed changes are done as specified by the plans .
As show n on the Demolition Plan (Sheet 2 of the Construction Plans for Southwood Valley
Elementary School), several impervious areas are being removed . Altogether, 11484 .3 S .F . of
impervious area is scheduled for remo val.
We then propose adding a total of 11904.0 S.F. of new impervious area (areas shown as prop .
concrete or pea grav el on the Master Plan).
The additional impervious area from proposed changes is 419 .7 S.F., or 0 .0096 acre . This yields
0 .1 c.f.s . in the 100-year storm event. However, we will reduce the runoff coefficient of the
entire playground by replacing bare ground and bur clover with Bermuda or St. Augustine sod .
The net result is a decrease in surface runoff
