REVISIONS The repor t dated July 18 , 2005 was revised to acc ount for changes made to the proposed grades of the deten tion pond. PURP OSE Developmen~ of the subject property involves the additi on of a building, sidewalks , drive , and parking spac es . The dra inage area affe~ced by the developmenc concains approximately 7. 2 acres of ~and. Reference is made t o the attached grading plan (sheet C.3 of 4 , Dra ft dated 7 /18 /0 5) draw ing. The increase in runoff from the development for the twenty-five year (25 -year) storm eve nt must be mitigated to not increase downstream flo w rates. Th is report docume nts the engineer ing analysis for the mitigation thro ugh the use of a detention basin. METHODOLOG Y Using field surveying data the watershed affected by the proposed development was delineated . The Ration al Met hod was used to compute the peak flow rate for this study. The area (A) of the drainage area was obtained fro m the maps . Based on existing land use patterns, the weighted c factor f or the area was determined. A v elocity-distance relations hip was u sed to compute the time of concentration ( t c ) for the area with a minimum time of concentration of ten (1 0) minutes. The rainfall intensity (I) for the drainage area was determined using the intensity-duration-frequency curves for the City of College Station (Figure III-1, Drainage Policy and Design Stan dards). The peak flow rate (Q) for the drainage area was computed with the follo wing formula: Q = (C) (I) (A) S :\2005152805-291 R&S-med ical \drain report\dra in report-R&S MED REVISED .doc ,..,,r iangular approximation hydr ographs for the 5 , 10, 25, 50, and 100-yr storms were then developed for runoff conditions with the base of the the post development triangular hydrograph being 3.0 times the time of concentration . These runoff hydrographs were then added to the existing discharge h ydrog raph from the detention basin for Ponderosa Place Tr act B as calculated in the attached Drainage Report . The addition of ~jese two hydrographs resulcs in the total posc-dev elopmenc ~nflow hydrograph for the detention basin. Ou tflow hydrographs for the 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100-yr storms were for developed using the detention the basin elevation-versus-storage relationship and the relationship for the outlet structu re. elevation-versus-discharge Discharge values for the v-notch weir outlet structure are calculated by the equation {Q = 2.5tan{0 /2)*H2 '5 ). A modified Puls method was then used to route the existing and developed conditions hydrograph through the basin. Haestad Methods, Inc. computer model ing program Pond-2 Version 5 . 21 was used for the calculations. RESULTS The dra inage area inf ormat i on and the cal culations for the existing and proposed conditions are attached. An expansion of the existing detention basin i s planned for the development to off set the increase in runoff rates due t o the increase in impervious cover in drainage areas 1 and 2. A 60- degree reinforced concrete weir with a top elevation of 3 09 . 0 0 will act as an outlet structure to release the runoff at pre- developed concrete rates. Th e flume leading runoff will discharge into an existing to the cul-de-sac located at the South S:\2005152805-291 R&S-medicalldra in reportl dra in report-R&S MED REVISED .doc end of Longleaf Circle in the Southwoo d Terrace Subdivision . Storage capacity of the detention basin exceeds that needed for a 100 year storm . Excess run o ff fr om development in Drainage Area 3 i s re-graded t o wards the deten t ion pond resulting in n o additional flow toward s Rock Prairie Ro ad. follows : Summary data is as DRAINAGE AREAS 1 AND 2 (PROPOSED DETENTION BASIN): EXISTING : Storm Peak Flow Rate Event (cfs) 5 yr 22.37 10 yr 25.35 25 yr 29 .07 50 yr 32 .99 100 yr 34 .42 PROPOSED : Peak Flow Peak Flow Storm Rate In Rate Out Storage Event (cfs) (c fs )** (ac-ft) 5 yr 48 .49 21 .53 0 .69 10 yr 53 .95 24 .24 0.76 25 yr 61. 60 28.35 0.85 50 yr 69 .26 32 .45 0.93 1 00 yr 72 .70 34 .26 0.97 *Top of headwall elev. = 309.00 ft. **Out let -60 ° V-NOTCH WEIR S :\2005152805-291 R&S-medical\drain reportl dra in report-R&S MEO REVISED .doc Peak Elevation (ft)* 308.12 308 .27 308.47 308.65 308 .7 4 DRAINAGE AREA 3 (NO DETENTION REQUIRED): EXISTING : Storm Peak Flow Rate Event (cfs ) 5 yr 3 .50 3 . 92 - 25 yr 4.49 5 0 yr S .0 7 10 0 yr 5.3 0 PROPOSED : Storm Peak Flow Rate Even t (cfs) 5 yr 0 .47 1 0 yr 0 .53 25 yr 0.61 50 yr 0 .69 10 0 yr 0 .72 S:\2005152805-291 R&S-med ical\drain report\drain report-R&S MEO REVISED .doc DRAWINGS R&SLEASING COLLEGE STATION PROFESSIONAL BUILDING TWO CITY OF COLLEGE STATION BRAZOS COUNTY, TEXAS ' - ~ --------I )'( I 9 ---\ 170' !1 /, ) )-I .r '• ' 1; ' :1 " ·'' ... .,• /' I / , I ) DRAIN BOUNDAAY, TYP . ---- --- _..--......-------- EXISTING DRAINAGE AREAS Rt S LEASING - PROFESSIONAL BLDG TY'IO COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS IPllll Pl e d ge r Ka lkomey, Inc. llll_KJ Consu l ti ng E nginee rs 70.:!0 Coyolc Run • Bryan , T cxa.1 771COM ~7'1 .7 .\l -M04HI • 97Q .7 .\l ·l~4HJjFll:() www.r kcnginc:t"ring .com Brt!nlwm · Bryan · Ro.rt>nherK 120' . \ 1 I<&- .---------, (_ TIME or "OONCOORAOON PATH, ffi'.
