McKnight: On August 23, 1995 I sent you a letter requiring you to make repairs to the retaining wall along your west property line and to repair the concrete slab at the same location . In that letter, I stated that after thirty (30) days, the City would begin enforcement proceedings. On September 1,1995, Mr. Fred Bayliss called and informed me that Chris Galindo would be the engineer for the project and would propose several solutions. Mr. Bay liss stated that he planned to select one of these proposals and begin construction within the next two (2) weeks . I made an inspection again on Tuesday, September 26 and found that no corrective measure had been taken. As stated before, the City will not be able to provide proper fire protection to your facility until this area has been repaired. The citation for this prohibited condition will not exceed Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) per offense . When the condition exists for more than ten (10) days after the second notification, a separate offense occurs . Please contact this office as soon as possible in order to avoid these citations If you have any questions or comments, feel fre e to contact me at 764-3570 . McKnight: It has come to our attention that the timber retaining wall along your west property line is no longer functioning as designed. After making a visual inspection of this location, I have determined this area to be unsafe for the use of our emergency service vehicles due to the excessive cracking and shifting of the concrete slab . For this reason , the City will be unable to provide proper fire protection to your facility if corrective actions are not taken. Please take care of this matter within thirty days of this letter. If no action is taken , the City will begin enforcement proceedings by issuing citations. Chris Galindo is the engineer for the project. He will be presenting 3 different proposals as to corrective measures. Fred is hoping to select one of the options within 2 weeks and begin construction shortly there after . One option is to pump grout into the washed out area and then seal the slab. The other is to remove the existing slab, backfill and then place a new slab. He will keep me informed as to the status of the project. cc: Veronica Morgan, Asst. City Engineer Jon Mies, C.S.F.D.
